Ragnar dangled for a moment, thinking about where to go from there. He looked around before trying to pull himself up some. No dice. He decides to just send more constructs around his hands to make himself harder to pry off.

"I will focus on these new enemies," Kiyo declares. "The rest of you should concentrate on taking out the larger Zoanthrope." Suddenly the robot is suddenly covered in a thick layer of armour, almost doubling her in size. The armour is blocky and cumbersome looking in comparison to her previous form and her microjets struggle to keep her in the air despite how massive they have become.

[Interconnection with PGM-09 circuitry... Complete. Booting up module systems... complete. All tests are green. Assuming direct control.] The depression in the chest of her new armour starts to glow as she swivels towards the largest concentration of bat-like creatures. [Sub-reactor integration... complete. Diffuse beam cannon... online.] The bulky helmet may cover her head completely but Kiyo's voice still comes out loud and clear through the speakers hidden throughout her body. "Impenetrable Fortress Form ready! Nothing can stop me now! Prepare to eat hot energy beams, Zoanthropes!"

Kiyo equips her PGM-09 Module and fires her diffuse beam cannon at the Lesser Zoanthrope Swarm, aiming to maximize the number in her cone of fire.

December recoiled from the force of his strike on the spider-monster thing. He hadn't quite identified his target before he had attacked it, but the unexpected resilience of the monster made him look twice. A normal spider would have gone beyond oblivion by now, and his darling dumplings would have been avenged. But not only was the spider alive and kicking, its wounds were recovering on its own as well.
What IS that thing?
Then there were gunmen who emerged, seemingly in tandem with the fleeing beast. December now realised he might have gotten caught up in something much larger than he had initially thought.
His momentum had been tanked from his strike - he still was fully intent in chasing down his sworn enemy, but he still had to retain his life first. He ducked for cover behind a nearby wall.

"Why?! Um....maybe, if you have the limbs with you! I don't exactly make it my business to reattach limbs!"

In the chaos of battle, Hideyuki Ito was most at home. This wasn't his first fight, not by a long shot, but most of these people didn't have the same experience he did, the same training. There was a monster for Ito to kill, and kill it he would, focusing all his intent on destroying his foe, before leaping up aside the wall, slashing at the Zoanthrope, his blade slashing outwards to catch one of the Zoanthrope's limbs.

This would work if he were fighting a Horror. Horrors weren't pack hunters. They were ambush predators, good at sneaking about within the darkness, luring in their prey one by one by one to prey upon them.

But he was fighting Zoanthropes. Zoanthropes weren't predators, they were weapons in living form, poised to create as much destruction as possible, inflict as much damage as possible, even at the cost of themselves.

Ito's blade is caught by one of the beast's eight arms, another arm lashing out and swiping across Ito's arm, ripping his coat open like rice paper, acidic liquid beginning to tear through the magical charms holding his suit together. Ito's momentum is only enough to cut off the top part of the limb, but at least he got something.

And this Zoanthrope wasn't alone, not by a long shot.

Two energy bursts riddle Ito's back, staggering him in mid-jump and forcing him to the ground, as the troopers from behind begin opening up a barrage of energy blasts, aiming directly for them. To add insult to injury, Ito is suddenly pinned to the ground by a burst of sticky fluid, webbing pinning him down. He will need to struggle out, and quick.

But Ito wasn't alone either.

Taking advantage of Ito's assault, Sato's blade slashes upwards into the palm-strike December made, carving through its chest. He must've cut something important, because the top two arms of the Zoanthrope fall limp. Sato, however, gets in too close, and the beast is far quicker than he is, allowing it to slash a talon into his side, throwing him back. Sato can feel the venom burn his skin as the talon lashes out towards him.  Energy blasts sail through the air aiming directly for Sato....

....only for a translucent pink barrier to wrap around him, catching him on the ground and protecting him from the barrage. Spica smiles at him, her hand extended with pink energy.
"Got your back."

December dives for cover, managing to protect himself by diving in front of Sato, the lasers blasting off harmlessly on the barrier. Spikes ripple out of the road ahead as Agatha sprints after the Zoanthrope, severing three of its arms and causing it to screech out in pain, waving its arms in pain as they begin to regenerate almost immediately. Agatha takes several shots in the back however, staggering her and throwing her to the ground, though her armor manages to soften the blow.

The troopers advance, meanwhile, laying as much fire onto the group as possible, some even aiming at Ai's head, leaving the smallest scorch mark on her forehead. Bad move.

In the blink of an eye, half the group is blasted aside, coins rippling through the group at the speed of bullets. Several collapse, parts of their body torn off, as Ai notices wiring torn apart and metal parts thrown aside to the asphalt, electricity sparking from their smoking, ruined bodies.

Robots, it seemed, were being deployed against you. The coins, however, don't seem to have much of an effect on their firing rate as a result, and don't seem to scare them off.

The Zoanthrope, despite taking some serious damage, is still running, turning a corner around towards the city center.

Yamato grimaces as he sees the Zoanthrope run. He gives Spica a brief nod, but that's about it for his response.

Then its back into the fray again. He rushes towards Ito, cutting the webbing clean off. With that done, he takes off down the street and towards the Zoanthrope once more. That thing was not escaping, not if he had anything to say about it.

And then Agatha dropped a fucking meteor on the spider, and Goldie pulled off some crazy acrobatics. But that looked like it was gonna hit pretty hard...

Well, nothing to it. He prepares to cut the meteor's impact.

"Well." Ai mused, faced with the destruction of her lazy toss. "Can't buy robots with change." She didn't look back, but addressed the heroes behind her. "Off you go. They won't pass me." Ai completely ignored the attacks raining on and past her. She reached for the wreckage of the robot dinosaur and grasped - somehow - from across down the street. Space can't limit the mighty for long. Then, holding it by the tail in her left hand somehow, Ai lazily swung it up over her head like a cotton ball on a string and swept it at the robot-soldiers.

After the sweep, Ai simply let go of what was left of the dino-robot. Letting it tumble down the street like a toppled truck. Coming to a halt like a make-shift barrier a short distance behind Agatha. Separating Ai and the robots from the fleeing Zoanthrope and the people chasing it.

Acid blood? I thought this was supposed to be a magical girl/toku series, not a Ridley Scott film. And webbing, too! Good times, and a reminder of why the armor exists. Alright then, serious face.

When the webs are cut, Hideyuki does a curious little breakdance-esque spin, dragging his sword along the ground in a wide circle around himself, a burning golden line trailing behind his sword until he describes the full circle, at which point the circle flares up brightly, flooding the area with golden light, and pieces of armor, first small, then larger, begin to fly out of it and latch onto Hideyuki's body, until at last he stands, eyes locked on the spider behind the golden faceplate of his glorious armor, insulated from the world by plates of soulmetal.

"It's Showtime."

He crouches, gaze still locked on the spider as it rounds the corner, and suddenly breaks out into a sprint, first across the ground, then turning and running across the building after the monster, before noticing something... weird above him. is that a... "... YUP." 90 degree turn. SPRINT UP the building. JUMP. The golden knight soars above the battlefield. His sword flashes, spinning in a circle around his body as the meteor passes him, plunging into its top. One would assume a single sword would do little to add to the momentum of a meteorite. One would be rather wrong considering the sheer mass even that amount of soulmetal had. Additionally, it seemed someone else was joining the party. Again, he leaps from the rooftop, this time to intercept his erstwhile compatriot, catching her to hopefully provide a bit of a smoother landing, arresting her wild flight and falling back to the ground as the sky explodes behind him rather majestically, upon landing violently kicking the golden sword further into the spider's body where it had fallen, should it somehow not be dead already.

Check one off the bucket list.

With the momentum she'd built up by flying about, Amelie launches herself towards the monster aiming for gravity kick right on top of it - she's trying to land a strike to knock it down and slow or stop it's progress towards the hospital, before launching herself away to deal with the nearest of the lesser Zoanthropes.

"I thought you were only supposed to get one transformation." She poured energy into another orb of plasma; this one didn't have a smooth surface like most, though. It roiled and bubbled with latent energy, the incandescent surface shifting as Haruko inflated it to about eight feet across. She idly wondered if she could get this to work properly as she cocked one arm back as if she were preparing to throw a baseball, the miniature sun moving slightly to her side to match. Her arm pitched forward, and the orb flew at the Zoanthrope again; once it got there, it exploded into a wave of smaller orbs, saturating both the bat and the immediate area (and, hopefully, the swarm) with plasma.

"Haruko! Careful! You're going to set someone's HOUSE on fire! If you can, get under him and fire up!"
Of course, Maki couldn't worry about that right now. In any case, she couldn't exactly stop Haruko's collateral damage.

At this point, they would've lured the Zoanthrope elsewhere; an empty, large space, where Haruko could do as much as she liked, and Maki could go all-in; after all, Maki's power was equally as destructive, but whereas Maki's strength was concentrated into her fists, Haruko's.....wasn't. Indeed, Maki had to take care not to pulverise walls with her punches unless absolutely necessary.

In any case, a Zoanthrope needed taking down right now. The newcomers had the smaller Zoanthropes handled, so there was just the big guy.

And like that, she just got an idea.
"New guy, hang on. It'll get bumpy, but I think I have a way to take this thing down without burning the place down! Brace yourself!"

December looked confusedly at the barrier in front of him, and the other figures rushing in to attack the monster.
Eeh? Who are all these people?
They were fighting the monster alright - he cared less of why they were doing such; an enemy of his enemy was his friend.
He picked himself up from the floor and sprinted back toward his target, jumping across rooftops and barrelling down at his enemy, aiming to strike down at the creature's abdomen and ground it.

Laying on the ground, thoughts racing, Agatha takes a moment to think about the situation...

Right... Running isn't normal behavior for Zoanthropes... At least from my research... It's not fear.. With the interruption by the mysterious evil group...
An extraction maybe? Or maybe securing a secondary objective is their goal?.. Either way... They can't be allowed to get away, we have to end this... Now.

Looking up towards the sky, she sees a shooting star streaking downwards; a chunk of earth and stone just beginning its journey through the atmosphere... Heh... If only it would lan-

Spell formulae suddenly snap into place... Forming a spell of Ancient and Terrible power... One to smite one's target with the fury of the heavens... But alas, even so, it is not complete...

But damn the incompletion! There's a perfectly viable stand-in right there! All she needs to do is send a stupidly vast amount of power out there to seize it!... And make sure it hits what she wants to hit... And not burn up completely before hitting it... And make physics somewhat take a backseat so it doesn't accidentally everything...

Everything prepared, she uses the earth to launch herself after the Zoanthrope, deploying her makeshift spell of immense power while doing so... Landing is going to be an issue, but that is a later concern; she aims, and unleashes the Gift from heaven that she has so painstakingly prepared...

And then promptly starts screaming as her state of hyperfocus fades and she's still airborn.

Ragnar dangled in the air as he listened to the rip off yell at him. It took him a minute to comprehend what she meant.
"Brace for what, ma'am? WAIT DON'T DO THAT PLEASE IT WILL HURT!"
Ragnar looks around in a panic for a better place to go. Yeah, that's not gonna happen fast enough.

Sato doesn't even pause for a moment as he slices Ito's webbing open. It was tough and sticky webbing, but his sword was sharp. His sword does catch quite a bit of it though; might need a little shaking off and cleaning. That's just plain annoying.

As Ito wrenches himself to his feet, he takes a look at his coat. The venom, acid, whatever it was, is slowly fading away, leaving a rather unsightly cut in his coat.

This. Can. Not-you know the drill.

The golden armor descends upon Hideyuki, transforming him into the Makai Knight of Touto, the defender of the night against the shadows of Horrors who prowled it for prey, to hunt down the weak.

It was time to bring an end to this fight.

A meteor descends from the sky, Agatha mounting it, screaming as she tries to drive it towards the Zoanthrope. The hospital is close, too close. Just a little bit closer. Just a little longer. Just a little faster, and the meteor would stop the Zoanthrope, would stop whatever it had planned, whatever it was trying to do. Maybe it was trying to regroup, or extract, or something, but whatever the case, it would not do it.

Hideyuki sprints up the side of the house, leaping up into the air to join Agatha, plunging his blade into the meteor to drive it straight into the Zoanthrope, two of its red beady eyes twinkling as the sheer weight of the world descends upon it. Agatha's screams, Ito's roar, the Zoanthrope's slowing pace and seeming fearful look as its end seems to descend upon it; it all made for a majestic image of triumph, one that came straight out of one of the better action-based anime. Even December is trying to join in, hopping across fences, his dumplings driving him on.

It's all over.

Except that glint in its eyes isn't fear.

It's bloodlust.

Ito may not be fazed -he's faced many an insane, hungry Horror before-, but Agatha notices this.

Ito, however, does notice its arms growing back quickly and the arms that were hanging limply suddenly perking up. Too quickly. Far too quickly.

And they both notice the Zoanthrope leaping directly to meet the meteor, razor-sharp talons glowing with energy-

The meteor explodes as the Zoanthrope slashes through it with all eight of its arms, a crackling noise (was that laughter?) emerging from its mandibles as it cuts straight through the heavy rock like a hot knife through so much butter. Four of its arms are torn off by the effort, incinerated in the blast, holes torn into its body by the shrapnel, but it wasn't done yet, not by a long shot. No, it wanted more.

More.

Agatha and Ito are thrown aside as the meteor explodes, Agatha taking the brunt of the explosion, Ito catching her lightly and dropping her on the ground as they land, flaming rocks showering the road. Even Spica is hit, thrown off her barrier platforms and thrown to the ground by the sheer force of the explosion, sent tumbling away from her safe post.

The Zoanthrope stands there menacingly, two of its arms already growing back. It now occurs to Ito that this beast is taller than he is, by a long shot, but this shouldn't intimidate him. No, a true Makai Knight is not intimidated by a mere monster.

So he rushes at it, trying to bring his blade down on it, but the Zoanthrope goes all in too. Its four remaining arms smash directly into Ito's gut as he raises his blade, throwing him back. The acidic venom on its talons seems to be mitigated by the Soul Metal, but the sheer force of the attack manages to ring Ito straight through his armor (which shouldn't be possible, what the hell WAS this thing?), forcing him to stagger back, shaking his head, completely vulnerable-

-And then a blade slices its torso open, sheer explosive force blowing out a chunk of its side, forcing the Zoanthrope to stagger back before it can finish what it started as-

[Now Playing: Sato Override ~Til When?~]

-Sato appears, the red fading from his blade, the explosion of the meteor having been captured in his blade and directed into the Zoanthrope's body.

The Zoanthrope screeches in pain and lashes out with its remaining arms, raking Sato, Ito, December and Agatha across their fronts, acidic venom burning them and Sato barely being spared as Spica's barrier shatters. Ito wastes no time, taking the opportunity to end it now; the Zoanthrope was already regenerating its wounds from Sato, taking the meteor on and lashing out, but Agatha isn't quite done yet, as she forces a large chunk of the shattered meteor to smash into the Zoanthrope, crippling its remaining arms.

Now was his chance.

He rushes forth.

[Now Playing: Squad Override ~You Say Run~]

He steels his mind.

He clenches his hands around his blade's hilt.

His allies had set the perfect mark. It was time to finish.

The Zoanthrope's arms grow back quickly, too quickly, but Ito didn't have time to notice such petty distractions as he evaded their blind lashes.

Now was the time to end the fight decisively.

He drives his sword directly into the Zoanthrope's gut, twisting up to cripple it. The Zoanthrope screeches, flailing as Ito wrenches his blade out, clutching at its stomach as it kneels to the ground, the wounds regenerating but not fully, not even close. All the bloodlust is gone from its eyes, replaced with a burning, seething hatred, but Ito didn't care as he whipped his blade to the side, cleansing it of blood like the samurai of old.

His job was done, with sixty seconds to spare.

The Aranea Zoanthrope has been defeated.
As for Ai? Well, her part was very, very simple. Hardly worth mentioning, really.

One moment, the robot troopers were blasting her with lasers and an explosive or two.

The next, they had all mostly exploded. A giant robotic T-rex's corpse ripping their torsos apart may have had something to do with that.

As Ai puts down the T-rex to bar any further soldiers from getting past her, she hears the sound of footsteps....behind her. She looks behind and, well, she sees soldiers piling in right where the group had just run off to. And there were more of them, too.

Oh bother. More thugs to deal with. And she had to move too.

Oh well. Better deal with it now than later.
