Battle Report 4, 1893Working day and night and using all of the time we had, we worked on something major that will change the face of the battlefield in our favor, the
Muqali 1893 Pattern Rifle which, with its issues of exploding solved, is the most reliable thing we have ever made outside of the old sword or the bow. The rifle, using a mini Minie ball is quick to reload and accurate, allowing it to be fired plenty of more times then it would be otherwise and, from this field report, have found its actually slightly faster then the Nafunan's rifle, although, not by much.
The Nafunan's meanwhile, made only one thing as well,
the Hor-Aha 12 lb Cannon. It appears to be a large cannon that's just as mobile as their old Narmer and also much more accurate half the time, its also made out of what appears to be iron and doesn't have a kind of chariot as a limber, it also has a greater range then our own or the old Narmer as well, a far grater range given how it can be aimed up to a 45° angle and we have found it to be rifled. It is also fairly quick to be loaded, and presumably uses a different ammo as well.
Battle Report, Naval combat: Nothing much really to report, other then the Nafunan ships tend to pack a bit more punch now. Regardless, its still the same old same old about our cannons being under powered and them having more guns then us. It should be noted however, that their cannonballs seem to go clean through every time now, and leave a nice hole in our ships, that and of course, we still have supply issues, luckily, we still are able to get a few of our ships through to the islands.
Due to this, the Nafunans have a Major naval advantageBattle Report, Island Mountain. Attackers, Nafuna: The battle for the mountain can best be described as desperate and brave. Although without much in the way of supplies, our soldiers fought on bravely against the Nafunan attackers and kept on doing so to their last breath, the few soldiers lucky enough to be equipped with our new rifles where able to do what the Nafunan's had been doing to us but better, surprising them and attacking, taking down multiple enemies before running off and finding a better and new position to fire from, firing there a few times, and then doing the same process again. It is extremely effective against our enemy, although, they have done the same to us, and when two groups get locked into combat, luck or skill is the deciding factor, that or who pulls the trigger first. Not only because we are more mobile, but because we are armed much much less with these guns.
Sadly our enemy gains ground to this, pushing us out of the mountains. [Karikhita 0/4, Nafuna 4/4] If they keep hold of the mountains for the rest of this year, they will surely gain the treasures beneath its stone.Battle Report, Village. Attackers, Karikhita, Nafuna: Our primitive enemy has its new weapon here, and it proves to be a real pain, with its long range and accuracy along with the fire it produces, its a heavy hitting thing that makes our soldiers all want to stay apart, which just means they cant get the fire required to take the enemy out, however, our rifles make things even in the terms of small arms, and fierce battles are waged with both our own and Nafunan victories. However, the overall battle this year seems to be a stalemate as despite our advances in arms tech, their cannon is able to deal with our own and our soldiers well enough that we are unable to gain ground, lucky us our guns are able to stop the Nafunans from doing the same,
leaving things like they where last year. [Karikhita 1/4, Nafuna 3/4]Battle Report, Swamp. Attackers, Karikhita: The battle in the swamp goes quite well for us, despite the fact the Nafunan's have a cannon with good range that could hit our troops even here, it is too far away to actually be of much use as their soldiers are unable to call upon it to aid them without us and them being in sight of the crew manning the thing, although occasionally, they just randomly fire into the forest in the hopes of hitting something seeing how we control most of the place. Still, our rifle shines here due to its reliability and is able to be fired in all conditions other then fired after hiding under one of the ponds, which one of our ambush teams tried, thinking that the gun would still work even after being submerged. Regardless, even with our cannon which, while rare here still does exist,
it is unable to give us the last little push to kick the Nafunans out, abet barely. [Karikhita 3/4, Nafuna 1/4]Outside world and Internal affairs: The french shipment of machinery has arrived, and although it seems odd and complex, we have instantly gotten to work setting it up in places called factories, although, our top civic engineers have gone to work on the great task of actually making them platforms that are mobile to work on so we may keep our nomadic way of life. In other news, Thomas Edison completes worlds 1st movie studio at West Orange, New Jersey. Rudolf Diesel obtains a patent for his internal combustion engine which would later known as the diesel engine. A petition organized by Kate Sheppard, demanding women's suffrage, is delivered to New Zealand's parliament. It is signed by over 25,000 women and New Zealand becomes the first country to grant all women the right to vote. It should also be mentioned that our rifles are no longer complex due to Industrialization
Mongol Sabre, A old sword design that has served us well even after all these years, It can be used on horseback just as well as it can be used on foot. Costs 1 Ore -Cheap
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Halberds, A two-sided blade mounted on a pole that is 2 meters tall, it can be used by particularly strong individuals on horseback but the average person can only use it on foot, it would be very good against our enemy's chariots, if only they actually used them for melee, still, good for melee and charges, although it is time consuming to make. 2 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. Its very difficult to make ourselves, and the match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, sadly making it unusable by our horse riders, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Costs 1 Wood, 1 Ore -Very Complex Very Expensive
Water Wolf, The Water Wolf is a sloop with a single deck and the room for 30 other troops, and sadly no horses. The ship can be equipped with either archers who attempt to sink ships with arrows set on fire, or boarders, who attempt to capture ships. It is quite fast with its two sails and has oars in the need to sail into the wind, or if the wind dies down. The ship design is simple, and the ship writes can make it without any issues. Costs 2 wood, 1 ore. -Cheap
Bear Armour, Sadly, not made out of bear leather, Bear armour is simple but effective cloth and leather armour able to stop arrows from killing at medium and long range, however, it doesn't stop musket shots at anything short of extreme range, at which point, you have to be lucky, which considering how accurate a musket is at that range, means you probably aren't. The arms aren't armored for flexibility, and it doesn't include a helm, so shots to the head or arms will be more effective then the chest. -Cheep
Shonkhor Light Cannon, A light cannon designed by us for mobility and speed over firepower. It is able to go almost anywhere, so long as people are strong enough, however that doesn't mean it is effective everywhere. When moving, especially at speed, on rough or bumpy ground the shot tends to fall out of the barrel. Other then this it is a fairly good cannon. Costs 2 ore, 1 wood -Complex, Expensive.
Sea Wolf, It is basically a Water wolf with six cannons. It is also bow heavy and the chaser cannons tend to get wet ruining the powder. It is still a fast ship but it isn't as quick as the water wolf ships are, it also is complex due to the cannons equipped on it. Costs 2 ore, 1 wood -Complex, Expensive.
Tsakhiur Carbine, Our first Tsakhiur system rifle. Its a musket that is small enough to be used on a horse, although reloading it on one is a bit tricky. It is also not as accurate as the Nafunan's rifles or their muskets for some reason. It is equippable by all our soldiers however as its cheep to make. Costs 1 ore, 1 wood, cheap
Muqali 1893 Pattern Rifle, A 'caplock" rifle that is better then the Tsakhiur in accuracy and loading. After the ammo was fixed so the barrel doesn't explode, it is extreamly reliable compared to even our other guns. Although submerging it in water will still stop it from firing. It costs 1 ore, 1 wood. No longer complex due to Industrialization, now cheep
Khopesh, A classic short sword design we have not forgotten even after all these years, the major difference between it and the original is the use of steel instead of iron or bronze and it is much sharper then what we had before. Costs 1 Ore-Cheep
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes with a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Shield, A simple shield using wood and covered with leather that is able to protect the user against blows by ground troops or protect against arrows. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Armored Chariot, Unlike our foe, we do not ride atop horses in battle, instead, we use chariots. These particular chariots are armored and quite sturdy so they wont have an unlikely chance of being set on fire. It is only used by skilled archers, as we have limited numbers of them due to the required skill needed to make them. Costs 2 Wood, 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Toth Mk.1 Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. The match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, making it unusable by our chariots, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club or spear. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Its been thoroughly studied and designs for our smiths have been made, along with a bayonet for melee combat and calvery. Costs 1 Wood 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Pharaoh Narmer 6-pound Cannon, A bronze cannon that is basically an up sized version of the gun we where given. It is able to fire a lead ball or a set of metal parts in a scatter shot. It is relatively light for a cannon and is quite reliable. It is transported using a chariot, and ammo and powder for the cannon is usually carried in another chariot, however, both chariots are larger then normal, and said difference can be noticed by the enemy. Thanks to our designs, skilled smiths can make it without too much trouble. Costs 3 ore and 2 wood -Complex, Expensive.
1891 Nafuni Soldier Uniform Standardization, A standardization of Nafuna's soldiers, it gives them a pouch and belt for paper ammo, along with a faded gold colored thick shirt that protects against arrows and leather boots. They also are given a helmet, with skilled people having their helms have golden falcon wings on the helm, sadly not sticking out like the bayonet, so we cant drag them down to the ground in combat. All soldiers seem to be equipped with this.
Asennu-class Shunefu, We don't know much, other then it has a lot of cannons, and is a Barque. Has two Narmer's at the back of the ship and is fairly fast, though, not faster then us of course.
Reseph Neithhotep Series 1 Sparkrifle, A rifle that is surprisingly quick to load and fire and has a similar if not the same firing system as our own, seems reliable enough like our own muskets, and is only given to special sharp shooters, who we can identify from the gold details on their helms.
Reseph Neithhotep Series 2 Smoothbore, A smoothbore variant of the Series 1 that is clearly cheaper to make, just like our own Carbine, just its longer, has a bayonet, and is loaded quicker. All soldiers appear to be equipped with the thing, just like our own...
Hor-Aha 12 lb Cannon, a 12 pound cannon that is able to fire at long range and appears to be made of iron, probably rifled due to accuracy, but it might now, we haven't managed to get any intact versions after all.
It is now the design phase, Khan Khan expects something very effective out of you.
