 As added information, double-stack, double-feed does take a rather more complex bolt.  Double-stack single-feed jamming more is new to me. Also, WOO! Proposals that would give a different acronym than the standard term! PMG! PMG!

One of the main changes in the civilian G36 for use in america is changing the magazine from stanag to a proprietary single-stack design. Even if you swap out the magazine well to fit stanag, you also have to swap out the bolt so it can feed more than every other shot.

Weirdly enough, this is only an issue with american-bound SL8s, as the rest of the world is apparently fine with people just being stuck with semi-auto only carbines and/or pinning magazines to limit them.

 Eh, thats mostly due to use. PMG is more descriptive, and makes more sense.

Not really. A PMG would make more sense for a light machine gun to be honest.

 Even LMGs require a second person on hand. Closest thing to another weapon that would deserve the term personal machinegun would be the squad automatic weapon.

 Or where you leaving the "cartage" part of the Cheops personal machine-gun cartage off the acronym? And if so, why?

I was, and because it sounds better as an acronym. The above is just a colloquial name for it.

I know at least one cartridge that leaves out the 'C' in their name (.45 ACP for example).

I know at least one cartridge that leaves out the 'C' in their name (.45 ACP for example).

By that standard, it would be the .286 LNMG or .286 LNM, depending on if you see "machinegun" one word or two. Or, for that matter since its also intended for pistols by description, the .286 ANP. But calling it the CPMG is just overly confusing.
 NPMG would be acceptable at a stretch though...

 In any event, you can note that none of the weapons using Automatic Colt Pistol rounds are, themselves, using the name. For that matter, there are a number of other companies that used the same naming schemes as colt did with its pistol rounds, will 9mm luger, 9mm browning(both long and short), even in the form of rifle rounds.

I'm not sure what LNM(G) would stand for, other than Light Nafuni Machinegun. ANP would also work, as 'Automatic Nafuni Pistol', though I'd prefer something like 'Royal Army Small Arms Cartridge' (RASC or RASAC) or 'Royal Army Handgun Cartridge' (RAHC). Thoughts? Small Arms seems more versatile in it's description as it doesn't limit it's usage to handguns, then again, it's latter usage wouldn't be limited by the name.

 Well, Imperial Military Handgun or Imperial Military Small Arms(Light) may be a better term than Royal Army, since its not just intended for the army, yer aiming to be an empire, and in the case of smallarms, you will have other smallarms rounds so some form of distinction is required.


 Or, for that matter, .286 IMC if yer not planning on any more .286 caliber rounds.
