Battle Report 4, 1893This year we spent all of our available time working on one thing, well, technically multiple things but they are all related to the one thing we made...Moving on, we made the
Hor-Aha 12 lb Cannon, perhaps our greatest feet of utilizing gunpowder yet, it is the longest ranged, most accurate and heaviest artillery in the war. On top of that, its reliable and made of iron so its no where near as heavy as the old Narmer, which it practically replaces. Luckily, we aren't the only ones to have spent the whole year working on something...
The Kari raiders have worked on what appears to be a rifle with a apparent caplock mechanism, such a rifle is called the
Muqali 1893 Pattern Rifle. It appears to be just as accurate as our rifle, more reliable, and seems to load just slightly faster then our own. We speculate that our enemy now has something equivalent to our own ammo now, but we aren't sure exactly what it is, if they have it at all, though chances are, if they do have a new ammo, its a copy of our own.
Battle Report, Naval Combat: In the ocean, we don't have much new to report other then our cannons are now deadlier then before and sink our enemies ships much much better then before. Of course, this is thanks to the new shot we designed for them to use, but otherwise their shipping is just as harmed as it was before, only now slightly less time is spent firing at them then before. Sadly this means the enemy does get a few shipments through to their troops on the island, but its not enough to keep them fully supplied at least.
Naturally, we have a Major Naval AdvantageBattle Report, Island Mountains. Attackers, Nafuna: Our enemies rifle seems to be not so much of a pain as we would expect here, although thats mostly due to the supply issues our enemy has. The enemy soldiers actually equipped with the new rifle tend to do what we did and still do to them, just they run off and hide after a few shots to move to a different location to attack us from while our soldiers look paranoid at every ledge and corner, this slows us down from our advance and we lose some troops due to this, but luckily, they don't have enough of them to bring things to an equal fight, and its mostly us who do the ambushes. However the few times some small groups of our soldiers equipped with rifles meet, they tend to go to whoever gets the first shot or which side has the more skilled soldiers, but luckily such a thing is rare, and the only time this happens is with small groups.
All of this combined allows us to push the poorly supplied Karikhatans back. [Nafuna 4/4, Karikhita 0/4] We will start to gain the resources from this location by next year, so long as we fend the Kari's backBattle Report, Villages. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: Its quite annoying, the fight in the villages. Our enemy has a rifle able to even the standings for once in the small arms department, however our artillery is able to push them back to an extent considering its superior to the Karikhitan cannon. Either way the battles are usually close and it really depends on a mix of luck, the generals, officers, and the soldiers to pull the battle ahead, although we do have a edge with our artillery, it is not able to make us win every single battle, and its not able to keep our momentum up to take the last of our old towns back, yet they are unable to take the land we have liberated from their old advances.
Just like last year, no one advances in a stalemate [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]Battle Report, Swamp. Attackers, Karikhita: The battle in the swamp is a close one, our enemy is armed with a just as effective but more reliable weapon then us and that is used to their full advantage, and although we have larger cannons that can now properly help in the battles here via long ranged fire, they are too far away to be of much use in any main battles and mostly spend their time firing randomly in Kari occupied parts of the jungle hoping they hit something. As such, our enemy, along with their own cannons that can do more in an actual battle, tend to be able to do enough that our troops are cut down badly here, however, despite this the Nafuni will is strong and it takes much more then that to drive us out of our own land.
We are able to hold the line with heavy losses, although it is barely held. [Nafuna 1/4, Karikhita 3/4]Outside world and Internal affairs: The British and American shipment of machinery has arrived, and although it seems odd and complex, we have instantly gotten to work setting it up in new buildings for advanced workshops called factories, although, our top civic engineers have gone to work on the great task of actually figuring out how they work so we can possibly make our own new and improved versions of the equipment. We also had a few skilled people add some nice designs and translate the words from English to readable Hieroglyphics. In other news, Thomas Edison completes worlds 1st movie studio at West Orange, New Jersey. Rudolf Diesel obtains a patent for his internal combustion engine which would later known as the diesel engine. A petition organized by Kate Sheppard, demanding women's suffrage, is delivered to New Zealand's parliament. It is signed by over 25,000 women and New Zealand becomes the first country to grant all women the right to vote. It should also be mentioned that our rifles are no longer complex due to Industrialization
Khopesh, A classic short sword design we have not forgotten even after all these years, the major difference between it and the original is the use of steel instead of iron or bronze and it is much sharper then what we had before. Costs 1 Ore-Cheep
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes with a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Shield, A simple shield using wood and covered with leather that is able to protect the user against blows by ground troops or protect against arrows. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Armored Chariot, Unlike our foe, we do not ride atop horses in battle, instead, we use chariots. These particular chariots are armored and quite sturdy so they wont have an unlikely chance of being set on fire. It is only used by skilled archers, as we have limited numbers of them due to the required skill needed to make them. Costs 2 Wood, 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Toth Mk.1 Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. The match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, making it unusable by our chariots, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club or spear. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Its been thoroughly studied and designs for our smiths have been made, along with a bayonet for melee combat and cavalry. Costs 1 Wood 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive [Obsolete]
Pharaoh Narmer 6-pound Cannon, A bronze cannon that is basically an up sized version of the gun we where given. It is able to fire a lead ball or a set of metal parts in a scatter shot. It is relatively light for a cannon and is quite reliable. It is transported using a chariot, and ammo and powder for the cannon is usually carried in another chariot, however, both chariots are larger then normal, and said difference can be noticed by the enemy. Thanks to our designs, skilled smiths can make it without too much trouble. Costs 3 ore and 2 wood -Complex, Expensive.
Asennu-class Shunefu A light Barque with 26 cannons with 2 of them astern to fight off anything behind it. It is first ship we made and quite a big one as well. The fact we pulled it off is clear sign of both our genius and the gods favor. It is relatively fast, and its cargo veriant is able to take much much more cargo then our old river boats. Costs 3 ore 2 wood -Complex Expensive
1891 Nafuni Soldier Uniform Standardization, A standardization of our soldiers equipment and outfit. It protects them quite a bit and it also allows those equipped with Thoth mk 1's to have more ammo then they would have otherwise. The boots help in the mountains and swamps, and the helm protects against arrows. -Cheap
Reseph Neithhotep Series 1 Sparkrifle, A rife with a Sparklock and loaded with Reseph balls, its a accurate and reliable rifle, able to be fired in windy weather and is protected quite well against rain. It is also quick to load and fire, and is no longer complex due to Industrialization. Cost 1 Ore 1 Wood Cheap
Reseph Neithhotep Series 2 Smoothbore, A smoothbore rifle that is no where near as complex to make as the series 1, but not as accurate either. However it is just as reliable and fast to load and shoot. Naturally, this makes it simple and cheap for our smiths to make. Costs 1 Ore 1 Wood, Cheap
Hor-Aha 12 lb Cannon, An effective and long range cannon that is fairly accurate and light, it also packs a heavy punch due to its size and is quite reliable. Costs 2 ore 1 wood -complex, Expensive
Mongol Sabre, A old sword design that has served us well even after all these years, It can be used on horseback just as well as it can be used on foot. Costs 1 Ore -Cheap
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Halberds, A two-sided blade mounted on a pole that is 2 meters tall, it can be used by particularly strong individuals on horseback but the average person can only use it on foot, it would be very good against our enemy's chariots, if only they actually used them for melee, still, good for melee and charges, although it is time consuming to make. 2 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. Its very difficult to make ourselves, and the match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, sadly making it unusable by our horse riders, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Costs 1 Wood, 1 Ore -Very Complex Very Expensive
Water Wolf, The Water Wolf is a sloop with a single deck and the room for 30 other troops, and sadly no horses. The ship can be equipped with either archers who attempt to sink ships with arrows set on fire, or boarders, who attempt to capture ships. It is quite fast with its two sails and has oars in the need to sail into the wind, or if the wind dies down. The ship design is simple, and the ship writes can make it without any issues. Costs 2 wood, 1 ore. -Cheap
Bear Armour, Sadly, not made out of bear leather, Bear armour is simple but effective cloth and leather armour able to stop arrows from killing at medium and long range, however, it doesn't stop musket shots at anything short of extreme range, at which point, you have to be lucky, which considering how accurate a musket is at that range, means you probably aren't. The arms aren't armored for flexibility, and it doesn't include a helm, so shots to the head or arms will be more effective then the chest. -Cheep
Shonkhor Light Cannon, A light cannon that is surprisingly mobile. Troops have seen that the shoot occasionally comes out of the barrel when in uneven and bumpy ground. Otherwise, we know the Karikhitans have quite a few of them, annoyingly, and they are able to do hit and run attacks on us. It can be used in the swamp and in the mountains, although, there are few, and not all of them survive in those conditions.
Sea Wolf, A water wolf with cannons. It has a few, about 4 or 6 and most noticeably, it has two guns at the bow, pointing in the same direction as the bow. Its not as common as the water wolf, and it isn't too hard to notice the cannons on it, so its not too dangerous by itself. Too bad it is in plenty of numbers...
Tsakhiur Carbine, A musket like our own, just with a shorter barrel and less accuracy. It doesn't have a bayonet either but it appears to be usable on horseback and by all soldiers of our enemy.
Muqali 1893 Pattern Rifle, A rifle like our own, just with a caplock mechanism and probably ammo like our own. Its accurate and barely faster then our own rifle when it comes to loading.
It is now the Design Phase. Our Pharaoh Neferu is confident in you, and her soldiers.
