Battle Report 3, 1892This Year we have designed two things, both of which where very very important. The first of which being the
Reseph Neithhotep Series 1 Sparkrifle our first Sparklock, Spark fire system, or 'flintlock' rifle. It is able to fire faster and is thousands of times more reliable then the old Thoth matchlocks. We also made the
Reseph Neithhotep Series 2 Smoothbore which includes the Reseph Ball shot, allowing for even faster reloads on both our rifles and our muskets. Despite not being as accurate, its faster and much easier to make, allowing us to give it to all our normal soldiers, while our more skilled get the Series 1.
These designs seem to have come in the nick of time seeing as our enemy made the
Tsakhiur Carbine, a musket with a shorter barrel as to be used on horseback. Although, its not as accurate as our muskets and no where near as accurate as our rifles. Still, all of our enemy's forces seem to have the thing, and it has a flintlock mechanism or Tsakhiur system. Either way, it fires faster then their old rifles, and is actually a bit more reliable then our own in wet weather.
Battle Report, Naval Combat: As our Asennu-class Shunefu has gotten cheaper and is now only expensive to produce, we have taken the sea's and punished the Khan's attempts of taking the sea. From our knowledge of their history, it makes sense that they could never claim the sea's, seeing how a mere storm apparently sunk many of them and brought the survivors here. Still with more ships, we are able to have them protect each other much easier then before, and it would be embarrassing for a captain to actually lose a ship, unfortunately, that makes captains more cautious then they should, and usually once they take a moderate amount of damage they start trying to sail away. At least we don't lose any ships due to this. Occasionally, when one of our ships is alone, the enemy tries to get in front of it, where they are promptly shot by out marksmen or the ship turns in the opposite direction they are going to broadside it, or in one incident, rams the small ship. Either way, the outcome is obvious,
we have a major advantage at sea.Battle Report, Island Mountains. Attackers, Nafuna: The major change in warfare are first felt here, where our new rifles, faster to fire, and deadly accurate, are able to pick off the Karikhitans from afar. This is especially useful due to the cannons they have up here, however its even more so when our enemy is on the defense. Of course, its still dangerous up here, and our enemy now fully armed is able to take out our own soldiers in an even fight, but their accuracy, or rather lack there of, is what makes them easy to deal with. Even more so when a squad of Riflemen end up spotting them first and are able to take out any small group of Kari's and send larger groups scattering. One major fight near the beginning of the year here was important however and showed us a glimpse of how warfare now worked. With our armies all lined up on a ridge, we ambushed the enemy and fired at the other and they responded in kind. We took casualties, but no where near as many as they did, all thanks to accuracy.
All of this lets us gain ground [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]Battle Report, Villages. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: Thankfully for us, we have our Narmer cannons back up to full production now that our transport routes are free and open again without Karikhitan interference. This is extremely helpful in the battles in the villages where they matter majorly in the fight against the invaders. Quickly enough, with some advice taken from our British friends, we set up our men in a 'voly fire' line to maximize our output of fire, while a few of our skirmishers remain to the side, vigilant for whenever one of the Kari's cannons pop up over a ridge. We take out a few of their cannons this way, however, the main focus is on the mounted threat, our enemy still uses their horses to great effect, even more so now that they have guns, although they reload slower then us thankfully, and they seem to just fire and hope their god Tengri reaches down and guides the shot to their target. Of course, hope as they might, they are still inaccurate, however due to the way our men are set up, we are hit quite a bit and lose casualties quite a bit. Whatever way they wage war over in Europe, we are starting to think there is probably a better way they just standing in a line waiting to be shot, even if it cuts our enemy down quite quickly. Either way, while taking heavy losses, our enemy takes just as many if not more, and although the casualties here are more then in any other of this war and despite our many brave acts,
we are unable to take the last of our Villages, yet they are unable to take what we have liberated. [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]Battle Report, Swamp. Attackers, Karikhita: The battle for the swamp is an interesting one. Reliability issues aren't as big of an issue anymore for both us and the enemy, as our guns are actually able to fire in misty and rainy situations. However, mud seems to be the next big issue, which isn't too much of an issue, after all, no one lies down on the ground as it isn't effective for volley fire. Still, we see an interesting tactic used by our enemy at one point, they went up, fired a few times, and then charged at us, yes, charged at us. Naturally that was a terrible idea for them and we where able to cut most of them down before many got into melee range, where they immediately regretted their decision as we have bayonets and turned tail to run. Their guns seem slightly more reliable then our own, but ours work well enough and we have so many that it doesn't mean much, and any error can be fixed relatively easily if given a few seconds. Still, just like in the villages some of the bloodiest battles of the war happen here,
but we manage to hold the line. [Nafuna 1/4, Karikhita 3/4]Outside world and Internal affairs: We have made our glorious flag, in fact, we made three. Regardless, it appears that the Karikhitan's made one too, although it is no where near as detailed or as fancy as our own. In relation to this, our nation has been fully recognized and is commonly referred to as 'Partially westernized' by most, and our enemy as uncivilized. This has lead to a favorable deal with the British, giving us a hand in our research in exchange for some of our gold.
We have gained a Extra Research Team to help with one of our designs. In other news, the first escalator is patented by inventor Jesse W Reno. The General Electric Company forms and is incorporated in New York. The Triple Alliance between Germany, Italy and Austria forms. And Arthur Conan Doyle publishes The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. In more important news, we have started to get better contact and have made a few more deals with an American company along with Brittan. Due to this, we will start to get the basic equipment for industrialization in a year from now. It is also worth mentioning that the flag of our enemy is in this report below.
Khopesh, A classic short sword design we have not forgotten even after all these years, the major difference between it and the original is the use of steel instead of iron or bronze and it is much sharper then what we had before. Costs 1 Ore-Cheep
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes with a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Shield, A simple shield using wood and covered with leather that is able to protect the user against blows by ground troops or protect against arrows. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Armored Chariot, Unlike our foe, we do not ride atop horses in battle, instead, we use chariots. These particular chariots are armored and quite sturdy so they wont have an unlikely chance of being set on fire. It is only used by skilled archers, as we have limited numbers of them due to the required skill needed to make them. Costs 2 Wood, 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Toth Mk.1 Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. The match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, making it unusable by our chariots, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club or spear. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Its been thoroughly studied and designs for our smiths have been made, along with a bayonet for melee combat and cavalry. Costs 1 Wood 1 Ore -Complex, Expensive [Obsolete]
Pharaoh Narmer 6-pound Cannon, A bronze cannon that is basically an up sized version of the gun we where given. It is able to fire a lead ball or a set of metal parts in a scatter shot. It is relatively light for a cannon and is quite reliable. It is transported using a chariot, and ammo and powder for the cannon is usually carried in another chariot, however, both chariots are larger then normal, and said difference can be noticed by the enemy. Thanks to our designs, skilled smiths can make it without too much trouble. Costs 3 ore and 2 wood -Complex, Expensive.
Asennu-class Shunefu A light Barque with 26 cannons with 2 of them astern to fight off anything behind it. It is first ship we made and quite a big one as well. The fact we pulled it off is clear sign of both our genius and the gods favor. It is relatively fast, and its cargo veriant is able to take much much more cargo then our old river boats. Costs 3 ore 2 wood -Complex Expensive
1891 Nafuni Soldier Uniform Standardization, A standardization of our soldiers equipment and outfit. It protects them quite a bit and it also allows those equipped with Thoth mk 1's to have more ammo then they would have otherwise. The boots help in the mountains and swamps, and the helm protects against arrows. -Cheap
Reseph Neithhotep Series 1 Sparkrifle, A rife with a Sparklock and loaded with Reseph balls, its a accurate and reliable rifle, able to be fired in windy weather and is protected quite well against rain. It is also quick to load and fire, although it is complex due to the rifling involved. Cost 1 Ore 1 Wood -Complex, Expensive
Reseph Neithhotep Series 2 Smoothbore, A smoothbore rifle that is no where near as complex to make as the series 1, but not as accurate either. However it is just as reliable and fast to load and shoot. Naturally, this makes it simple and cheap for our smiths to make. Costs 1 Ore 1 Wood, Cheap
Mongol Sabre, A old sword design that has served us well even after all these years, It can be used on horseback just as well as it can be used on foot. Costs 1 Ore -Cheap
Composite Bow, A favorite of both our own troops and our enemy, it is a simple bow that is able to pack much more of a punch then a self bow, it comes a quiver. Costs 1 Wood -Cheap
Halberds, A two-sided blade mounted on a pole that is 2 meters tall, it can be used by particularly strong individuals on horseback but the average person can only use it on foot, it would be very good against our enemy's chariots, if only they actually used them for melee, still, good for melee and charges, although it is time consuming to make. 2 Ore -Complex, Expensive
Matchlock Rifle, A simple mussel loaded rifle with a matchlock system where a wick is used to ignite the gunpowder in the pan. Its very difficult to make ourselves, and the match needs to remain lit making it prone to go out in windy situations, sadly making it unusable by our horse riders, and in rain or mist its more or less a fancy club. The glow of the match burning also can give away the gunners position in the dark. Costs 1 Wood, 1 Ore -Very Complex Very Expensive
Water Wolf, The Water Wolf is a sloop with a single deck and the room for 30 other troops, and sadly no horses. The ship can be equipped with either archers who attempt to sink ships with arrows set on fire, or boarders, who attempt to capture ships. It is quite fast with its two sails and has oars in the need to sail into the wind, or if the wind dies down. The ship design is simple, and the ship writes can make it without any issues. Costs 2 wood, 1 ore. -Cheap
Bear Armour, Sadly, not made out of bear leather, Bear armour is simple but effective cloth and leather armour able to stop arrows from killing at medium and long range, however, it doesn't stop musket shots at anything short of extreme range, at which point, you have to be lucky, which considering how accurate a musket is at that range, means you probably aren't. The arms aren't armored for flexibility, and it doesn't include a helm, so shots to the head or arms will be more effective then the chest. -Cheep
Shonkhor Light Cannon, A light cannon that is surprisingly mobile. Troops have seen that the shoot occasionally comes out of the barrel when in uneven and bumpy ground. Otherwise, we know the Karikhitans have quite a few of them, annoyingly, and they are able to do hit and run attacks on us. It can be used in the swamp and in the mountains, although, there are few, and not all of them survive in those conditions.
Sea Wolf, A water wolf with cannons. It has a few, about 4 or 6 and most noticeably, it has two guns at the bow, pointing in the same direction as the bow. Its not as common as the water wolf, and it isn't too hard to notice the cannons on it, so its not too dangerous by itself. Too bad it is in plenty of numbers...
Tsakhiur Carbine, A musket like our own, just with a shorter barrel and less accuracy. It doesn't have a bayonet either but it appears to be usable on horseback and by all soldiers of our enemy.
