Arm_ok god of blood

I read up that a user named Armok inspired the series name. Is it this user?

The account is from 2007 and there are mentions of Armok going back atleast to 2001. So I suppose not. But then, who is?

I thought the name stemmed from Arm: OK

There was a variable name in some previous game that Toady made (I don't remember which) called "arm_ok".

Indeed I beleive it was dragslay.  The name armok came from the ARM_OK variable, that determined if the player had a functional arm.  The forum poster came after, around the same time I started lurking but had not yet signed up. (and Armok was a regular poster here for some time).

Not sure if you knew, but there are only two devs, Tarn (Toady One) and Zach (Threetoe) Adams, and Toady is the only programmer.

Which means that if we contact one of them, they probably won't respond all that quickly, if at all, what with the release coming so soon.

No need to contact Toady about it. You've already been given the true account of the arm_ok variable and it's a fairly well known story if you want to search. The forum user Armok chose the name after learning of it from Bay12, not the other way around. He himself didn't inspire anything in Toady other than maybe annoyance.

RtRtD would need a LEG_OK variable, I think.
Wait, no, Frelock eventually got Armsplosion. Conveniently, it was right after Frelock's legs got cut off.
