So, mathematics is a valid way to quantify and study this universe.

That's good, because I do not believe that the human mind is actually capable of deciphering a fundamentally different way to quantify a universe.

So, telescope experiment as I proposed.

I don't have anything else right now, brain too fried. Will be back later.

Does e still equal mc2?

Probably no way to check that right now, but hey.

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

I theorize that the water is somehow structurally diffrent and is now generally flammable when heated

I propose an experiment to test this glorious new idea!   Let's see if the tub, preferably one tub of warm water and then toss a flaming match onto it.

Our world has volcanoes, right? How do the local lifeforms react to being close to lava after an eruption?

I can tell you right now that that's a superficial similarity - they die.

On the same subject, I suggest taking a sample of lava after it has cooled to ambient temperature, and study its composition to see what type of stone it's closest to.

This world has canyons and the like, yes? If so:

Try to find fossils. Catalog any fossils and note any similarities they may have to current organisms.

DID YOU JUST MAKE ME CREATE AN EVOLUTIONARY TREE???

UGH! I will get that done, but don't expect it soon.

Such a tree will provide important information on the conditions of the planet throughout time, so of course :).

Just remember, late at night when you're considering how to do this when you should be sleeping, just remember...

It's all your own fault anyway.

No Madman, bad. This is decidedly not positive reinforcement.

That's fine, since we're not redoing psychology in this universe it doesn't matter if I conform to good psychological practices or not.

Actually, you're quite correct. If I'm not going to get positive results from something that is requiring a lot of my mental and temporal resources to continue, I guess I shouldn't continue it, right?

Nah. Whatever.

My new solution is to spoon-feed you evolutionary data, so that I can hurriedly come up with the rest while I go.

This is the Periodic Table
Noble gases stable
Halogens react but not
if I have anything to say...

Alright, so I've decided to answer you more... reasonable... requests before getting onto the painfest that Blastoise has dug me into...

Build a very large glassworks, and start messing with parabolic mirrors.

Build a reflecting telescope, and test its properties. Just to make sure. Compare it to the refracting telescope.

Both work! Parabolic mirrors direct all light from a parallel line to their focus, just like in real optics. Reflecting telescopes work great. However, since the refractor has much better magnification - and, incidentally, absolutely no chromatic aberration - there's no real reason to use reflectors.

I theorize that the water is somehow structurally diffrent and is now generally flammable when heated

I propose an experiment to test this glorious new idea!   Let's see if the tub, preferably one tub of warm water and then toss a flaming match onto it.

The match goes out.

It ain't that obvious, buddy.

On the same subject, I suggest taking a sample of lava after it has cooled to ambient temperature, and study its composition to see what type of stone it's closest to.

Basalt.

I mean, I can't really get more specific without hours of study of real-world mineralogy and specific requests as to location, but volcanoes produce basalt, got it?

It's kinda self referential - do not assume this is the same as IRL basalt.
