Your forces set sail once more for Hodgwin, this time in military vessels rather than suborned fishing boats. They time their landing to occur just as your allies from Pollock arrive.

The Attackers have crushed all resistance!
The Formian triremes sail straight to the docks, allowing them to circumvent the walls. The city's only defenders, a unit of light macemen, attempt to cut the passengers off however the trireme crew cut them down.
With the token resistance defeated, the city is captured by the Barons Illustrious, along with the surviving defenders of Pollock's previous assault and the Dark Lord of Hodgwin himself. Of Pollock's own losses, only an unmarked grave remains.
Your forces find the Dark Lord recovering in his manor within the city. He is quickly detained for questioning, although it turns out he was very amenable. You discover that his real name is Jack de Fou, and he was a knight in the household of Sir Cristopher de Lacey, the previous lord of Hodgwin. One fateful evening he and his lord got drunk and had a massive argument. In anger, Jack declared Sir Cristopher as a cur and pronounced him dead to Jack's eyes. By pure chance, Lord Cristopher collapsed with a cry, convulsed and died. Using this to his advantage, Jack declared himself the Dark Lord of Hodgwin and terrified any potential insurgents into submission with his “death stare”. After an autopsy and some testing of his “power”, Jack was quite certain that Cristopher died of a perfectly timed heart attack rather than some fell power. He promises to serve you, if you'll have him.
North Hodgwin appears to be special in another regard as well. The city contains a number of mundane healers as well, capable of using common herbs to make poultices and other medicines for your forces.
Your researches have done it! Sort of. At your request, they have been able to bring a single corpse back to some semblance of undeath, manoeuvring it across your throne room like some macabre puppet. They'll need more work in order to produce anything useful to you in the field, but for the moment, you can start training individuals in the art of Necromancy.
