Aside from the radar
Wasn't an attempt to match cannala, it was just coincidence (well, probably) that they happened to be working on theirs too
Quote
300 mm cannon
this worked, it's just their resource boost that popped up made things massive and it's not going to simply remove the naval element from the game
Quote
radar targeting systems
just bad luck :( ,
Quote
the Z
actually a superior carrier, but they (coincidentally or "coincidentally") happened to be improving the Santos at the same time, hmmmm. damn resources too
Quote
the cheap jet
my lost Lenore; not sure how it can even be on the list though because that ain't even a matter of design
Quote
the Archer
never intended to match their navy
Quote
you're right
god I sure fuckin hope

Designing an equal to the Khorne shouldn't be Very Hard. If it is, then yes, that would be bullshit. By this point, you can't say we have no experience designing warships, or large ships. There should be no reason why a simple cruiser would fall into the Very Hard category.
It's a combination of stuff we already know how to do. We aren't advancing our tech in any way. That makes it Normal, I believe.

Actually, it didn't.

The gun they have on their ship has far superior targeting systems, as well as superior firerate. As well as, you now, building an entire ship around it.

The Z-class is inferior to the enemy.

It's more expensive, deploys aircraft far slower, and destroys it's own planes.

Them upgrading their carrier was not unexpected. They designed a jet against our jet, and they needed the upgrade to use it.

I have no idea what you're referring too.

The simple fact is however, that we needed a design (which rolled a 6) and 2 revision (rolled 4 and 5 respectively) to equal a single Canallan design.

I admire your optimism, but I do not share it.

Our Destroyer was Hard, our small carrier was hard, and the big carrier was very hard.

If it does turn out you're correct, then we stand a chance.

You know what I just realized?  Even if we roll a 6 on this cruiser, it won't do anything.

Winter is this turn, meaning sea fog.  We don't have radar small enough to mount on our ships, nor do we have working radar-targeting for the guns.  Even if Cannala wastes their turn and develop nothing, it's likely they will be able to maintain a Massive Naval Advantage this turn.

Actually, we do have dedicated radar ships. It's inefficient, but we do have radar at sea.

Yeah, but Cannalla has better radar, and radar controlled weaponry.

Sometimes when bad weather rolls in the new Eagle Eye radar even allows the Victoria to hit ships it can't see, although the radar is imprecise and not very well suited for this task.

We could also use our revision to miniaturize our Radar enough to put on our ships. That will allow us to reliably fly sorties, and even without radar-targeting, we can still use pen and paper to work out a cannon trajectory from the radar ping.

It'll also boost our coastal defence (less useful right now) and will hopefully give us a truck mounted radar as well.

Yeah, but that means doing nothing to stop Canalla from pushing further into the Jungle.

Yes, I meant radar on individual ships.  The radar cargoship was described useless for shooting in the fog.

To get radar-targeting, we need both smaller radar so each gunship can have it and working radar-gun targeting.

We should develop the Deadliest Radar next turn, if we get the chance; I'm not sure "smaller radar" will help this turn since our ships will still be unable to hit anything due to crappy targeting.

 :(

Meanwhile, Canalla uses a single action to :

1) Design a battleship
2) Design the battleships guns
3) Design the targetting computer linking the battleships to the radar.

We're going to end up using 3 actions to do what Canalla did in one, and it's not the first time that happened.

Guys, don't get so unoptimistic. Carriers are a new field for the world.

Everything going on the Cataphract is WWI standard equipment.
It literally can't be hard. It advances nothing, merely applying everything we've learned, as well as what the outside world learned. If we don't have to fix the design or improve it, then we shrink radar and make it work with targeting systems. We've got enough experience with both. More, in fact, than Cannala has with radar, yet they managed to put it on a battleship with a computer simultaneously. So, yeah. I think we can do that.
