Considering the UK already has ship-based radar (they actually developed it last year) our Deadlier Ray is worthless to them.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

Immediate and future rewards if we keep getting research credits from them.

Sensei has to be well aware of the discussion we've had regarding which credit is better, so it's a bit of a farefetched conclusion to make that each side is gonna have the exact same credit type every time, not to mention that such lack of variety is pretty damn unlikely.

Chiefwaffles, something of note: Sensei has confirmed that joining the Axis means that there's strong external political pressure to go fascist.

Something we need to do, save Rommel. Make sure we change history and do this.

At the same time though, this doesn't necessarily preclude democracy. Sure it does mean we do have to have a strong head of state that is effectively a dictator but we can put in parliamentary limitations on them.

Well we CAN change generals, or possibly even add more generals? Poaching Rommel seems impossible, but if we continuously send requests for ever worsening conditions, then Hitler may consider sending him to us as a means of getting rid of him...

Capturing him seems completely impossible. As for long-term benefits? Well, we can imagine that we may get technologies from them? Axis really has the best reward right now, and insane research is pretty much their thing, so that is unlikely to change. But long term we really don't know, but can only imagine that it extends into the fields at which they excel at. Axis is very nice for jet-fighters and guns. If they care to share their 8.8cm gun then we could just laugh all the way to the bank...

Allies consistently seemed to have the best navies, and should be good for experience, at least with basic hull-work and such on large ships. But don't forget that the axis had some fantastic naval performance at times, again, typically from unconventional tactics. What we really need to do is join the axis and then break Enigma. Then they will have to change it...

but this is all specualtion and conjecture. All that we really know is what we get right now, and that is a sweet sweet research credit...

Can we go neutral and get Swiss Pikemen?

Unlikely. And if we don't choose a faction and they do, they're going to have that bonus a turn ahead of ours.

Kind of definitionally contradictory to freedom, that.

Not necessarily, since we can still mandate that only parliament introduces bills (Though they need the support of the dictator to implement it)

You can't have an effective dictator without, you know, having an effective dictator, Taricus. You are acknowledging yourself that you'd be suborning the government to a strong central head of state, and that in and of itself is A. Not an ultrafree action, hi El Presidente, and B. leads near inevitably to an unfree state, hi El Presidente.

Guys, since we can't decide between Axis or Allies it's clear that we have to come to a compromise.

Vote Comintern.
