And by God, was she going to use it.

Shef
"W-will it work? I-I don't know... I just see people everywhere, they look like... um, servants? But it's like, it's like they're not really there... Evi has some kind of telekinesis, Vendelin some kind of spirit following him, and Fleur-" A pillar of light erupts around Fleurette, ancient grimoires spiralling up into the air around her before spreading out, each in formation. Locks are undone, chains are unbound as they open, mystic circles blooming from their pages, right in front of the, most certainly not g-rated illustrations within them.
"Just great, she's got an entire library of them now." (Vendelin)

Oh. Shef coughed and averted his gaze a bit. "I uh see. Safe room should be alright. Best I know, most of the danger should be inside the sanctuary. Better safe than sorry though. Your ability doesn't sound offensive, Mary, which is fine, I think your servants would rather you be safe than fighting anyway." Shef at this point became aware of a conspicuous absence of a certain someone, and turned back in disbelief at the fact that Yoake had somehow escaped. "How the hell did she--!? No, whatever."

"Sorry. Okay, so you see people, but not physical. Lots of possibilities, ghosts, temporal pathways, who knows. Can you interact with them at all, and do they do anything?" Shef needed to figure out what these powers did, not what they looked like, which was a bit irritating. But then again, had he known any of what he could do when he awakened? He honestly couldn't remember.

Shef
"I-I don't know, I can barely seen them right now... you're right it's not going to help much in a fight so I'd best just stay away..." Hmm, no idea then, sometimes happens, sometimes people's powers are a little more esoteric it seems, seemed to be the case with Hanako too considering she failed to realized she even Awakened or that she even had abilities. Wait... when did Mary get a rifle?
"Reality alteration. Some forms of it act through an interface. Slaine's acts through clockwork, it seems that Mary's acts through these phantom servants. Good, if it something does happen, she'd at least have someone to teach her on the fly."
"You may want to mention Slaine by the way, we dispatched her to secure the mansion and help resupply, if all else fails, she'll be able to step in."

"Okay, got it. According to, well, basically mission control, it's probably some type of reality warping. Probably uses servants as a mechanism to either summon stuff, maybe get information, or attack, who knows. We've got someone else here with that skill, if you want more insight on your ability. She's probably around here somewhere, just say the word if you'd like that." Well, Slaine had known that these people had awakened, so she was probably sneaking around the mansion somewhere. Either she'd pop up on cue or something, or the AI would summon her.

"So, Fleur. You can make books, obviously, but it's likely you can do something with them, besides reading them for personal enjoyment or whatever. Probably some type of spell work. Mind going out on the lawn a bit and trying something? Just sort of go with what feels natural probably." Might not work of course, sometimes you needed that kick of danger to figure out what you can do, but it was worth a shot.

Shef
"You sure the floating and magical circles aren't just for show? Something to attract the readers? Y'know, like Enn?"
"Huh? What? Wait, no I'm just trying to examine the inscriptions!"
"On the circles or the pages?"
"Pa- I mean circles! Definitely the circles!"

Okay... ignoring that, Fleur walks over to the lawn, the books closing and slowly orbiting her when suddenly... absolutely nothing happens! It's amazing isn't it?

"Yeah, didn't expect much." Shef turned to Mary and Vendelin, and murmured, "I'm going to shoot her. It won't hurt her too bad, she'll be able to walk it off. But some pressure of an attack can often help galvanize action. Is that okay?" He'd been considering doing it without asking before noting the obvious fact that attacking one of three newly awakened people, all of whom cared for each other, would not be the smartest idea.

Shef
You feel a sudden sense of pressure around you, a disturbance in the air, but as soon as it comes it leaves. Hmm, Mary doesn't seem to have the most control right now. Something made even more evident when, instead of replying she just kinda eeps in shock, fumbling the rifle in her hand, the rifle she only just noticed.

"I'm going to take that as an 'alright you can shoot her.' Might want to cover your ears if you're sensitive to that." With that, Shef started to make his way down from the porch, pulling out the five-seven and a magazine. He released the current magazine of rubber bullets, racked the slide, before sliding the copper jackets in. At this point he would be out on the lawn. Safety off, and firing. Twice, the first purposely missing; the second a little to left of the center of mass.

Shef
As you draw your weapon, something appears beside Vendelin, some manner of spirit, robotic in appearance and clad in some manner of garment best described as a cross between a jōe and a stylised straightjacket, taloned hands idle as its blank face stares impassively, the larger of its eyes  shifting and zooming in on you. No comment is made.

"Oh, it's gonna be one of those kinds of things, isn't it?" (Fleur)

Two shots ring out, neither find their mark, as they slam into a wall of light which seems to envelop them, trapping them in midair.

"Pretty much. Now, Fleur, did you do that purposefully, or was it entirely automatic?" It had gotten both the shots, so it probably wasn't something that activated automatically based on danger. Now, the bullets were trapped, it appeared. The question was, was this a physical stopping, or was it some kind of temporal thing? Trapping and then releasing bullets at the same speed later could be quite useful. "Now step out of the way and release the bullets."

"You want to continue to test, or to spar? Would probably be first contact with an attack wins." A choice between figuring out the specifics of her defense, or discovering whether she had offensive capacity. It was better to let her decide, Shef believed. Gave her a chance to go with what felt more natural, which would be useful if they got into a conflict. There had been some shadows that Evi had taken care of. . .

Faith had been uncomfortably looking anywhere but Noriko and Tsukasa in a feeble attempt to not exacerbate the situation, but that latest piece of the exchange seemed to change her mind. She frowned to herself, sighed, and turned to Tsukasa. ”You know... it really isn’t nice to single people out in front of everyone. You probably could have pulled her aside...”

"Pulled who aside?"
Tsukasa seems genuinely confused at this. It seems she hasn't caught on to the cues about Noriko or Karen.

Shef
"Instinct I guess." (Fleur)
She steps out of the way and the bullets drop to the ground, perfectly intact.
"I think I'll just rest for now, need a break from all of this stuff. Besides I think I know just how to relax..." (Fleur) She grins snatching one of her tomes out of the air.
"How 'bout you Vendelin? You've got that big scary robot, why not give that a try?" (Fleur)
"And get shot? No thanks. I don't even know what this crazy thing even does." (Vendelin)

"Oh? No takers? Then I'd like to sign up." (Evi)
Evi walks on over, her uniform now replaced with casual clothes and a bullet-proof vest.
"One condition though - this only ends when one of us submits. You look like you know how to use that gun, and I don't think I can stop a bullet. Not on the first try anyway, so first hit won't work. Oh and, fight a bit seriously, I wanna see how these kinds of things pan out normally. Deal?" (Evi)

"Instinct is fine, and yes, take some time to adjust, know it's quite confusing and hard to believe." And this was just the powers. Wait till they found out about stuff like the gaydar. Shef peered over at the bullets as they dropped. Not a stasis thing, or a force, just a stop. It could definitely useful, and important to know.

Shef betrayed a little surprise as Evi stepped over, partly due to the fact that he'd not noticed her arrive again, and partly due to the air of confidence. It usually took people a bit to get used to this, he knew. Perhaps, it could be attributed to her already being in one fight? Either way, Shef nodded once as she volunteered.

"Oh? Deal. Surrender is fine, also ends if either of us is physically unable to surrender. Don't expect that, but it's always best to close those loopholes. Now," Shef pocketed the gun he'd been using, and pulled out the significantly heavier RAM pistol, "If you want serious, I'll be using this." He snapped it into the steel frame surrounding his left arm. "One final thing. This won't be how things pan out 'normally'. There isn't really a normal. But if there was, it wouldn't be a one on one fight between awakened humans. Still useful, good for pushing limits, just don't get ideas about how things will normally go." If there was anything else the maid wanted to say, now was the time to do so. With either an affirmative or a few seconds of silence, he'd begin.
