Previous -- NextAnd I seem to be ready, again following a general "engage the enemy" command for
Gary (Coolrune206).
8, 6, 10, 4, 3, 7, 2, 5, 9, 1
. . .
Wall tiger A, swordperson C,
wall tiger D, swordperson A,
Tohil, swordperson D,
Gary, swordperson B,
wall tiger C,
Dustan.
Some combat tables as before
Wall tiger A attack roll: 7, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 2+1 = 3!
Swordperson B, HP: 0/10
Swordperson C attack roll: 4, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 5+1 = 6!
Wall tiger A, HP: 0/16
Wall tiger D attack roll: 4, Succeed weakly!
Damage roll (1d4-1): 2-1 = 1!
Swordperson A, HP: 8/10
Swordperson A attack roll: 3, Succeed weakly!
Damage roll (1d4-1): 4-1 = 3!
Wall tiger D, HP: 4/16
Tohil's combat table, now with roaring axe:
1: Fail terribly
2: Succeed weakly
3: Succeed
4: Succeed
5: Succeed greatly
6: Succeed greatly (which really hurts)
7: Fail by succeeding
8: Fail by succeeding
Tohil's attack roll: 2, Succeed weakly!
Damage roll (1d4-1): 1-1 = 0!
(Pfft, how about we try this then:)
Wall tiger D aaagh-it's-fire-again roll: 2, Fail!
Swordperson D attack roll: 5, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 6+1 = 7!
Wall tiger C, HP: 9/16
Presumably, Gary would figure things out and switch to the weapon that punches through the armor, so . . .
Gary's combat table, now with iron pick:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed
5: Succeed greatly
6: Fail by succeeding
Gary's attack roll: 4, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 5+1 = 6!
Wall tiger C, HP: 3/16
Wall tiger combat table, unarmored target (Gary or others):
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed
5: Succeed
6: Succeed
7: Succeed greatly
8: Fail by succeeding
Wall tiger C attack roll: 8, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to Gary (1d6+1): 1+1 = 2!
Gary, HP: 11/13
Damage to self (1d6+1): 6+1 = 7!
Wall tiger C, HP: 0/16
Dustan's attack roll: 1+1 (distracted target) = 2, Fail!
The salt pit in the south, scraped near-clean by mining picks, now is washed with blood. The charred wall tiger finally strikes a killing blow on the human in front of it, then chomps down on her neck to drag her away. Feeding time!
Swordperson B has been struck down!
Feeding time canceled on account of other swordsfolk! One breaks away from the massive beasts in the middle of the pit and pursues the retreating enemy before it can get out of reach. He cuts into its exposed flank. The attack is fatal!
Wall tiger A has been struck down!
The others go back and forth drawing blood until Tohil decides to reintroduce fire. Your roaring axe glows the color of disturbed searing-hot coals as it whistles through the air (at least magenta coals), and you rush forward to strike a killing blow "FOR THE SUN!!"You strike a glancing blow! The wall tiger nonetheless recoils as though terribly burnt--or, perhaps, it has learned to fear you as the one that brings fire.
Dustan attempts to take advantage of this distraction. You descend the slope, closely followed by the slumping body of your would-be captive. Unfortunately, your aim is just wrong, and this new enemy's distraction is not enough to give you an angle.
Gary gets his act together and tries an iron pick this time. Ah, the sharp tip sinks into the nearest wall tiger like a mighty claw! Speaking of that relevant metaphor, the beast swipes you in response, but it does such damage struggling against your pick that its life blood pours onto the ground!
Wall tiger C has been struck down!(Sadly, that does not count as your kill. I've maintained such a rule in the past about self-damage deaths.)
. . .
John and
Dwain go first, and then swordperson F,
Alyssa Alpine, the
bug bat birds, swordperson H, swordperson I, swordperson G, swordperson E.
John's combat table, firebreath attack, target is a flock of over 15 (recall I've implemented the rule that area-of-effect attacks against a big flock get multiple rolls):
1: Fail terribly
2: Succeed weakly
3: Succeed
4: Succeed greatly
5: Fail by succeeding
John's attack roll: 2, Succeed weakly!
Damage roll (1d4-1): 2-1 = 1!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 28/29
John's attack roll: 4, Succeed greatly!
Damage roll (1d6+6): 4+6 = 10!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 18/29
John's attack roll: 3, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 6+1 = 7!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 11/29
Dwain's combat table, now in smoke, same as all nearby swordpeople:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed
5: Succeed
6: Succeed greatly
7: Fail by succeeding
8: Fail by succeeding/fail terribly
Dwain's attack roll: 4, Succeed!
Damage roll (1d6+1): 1+1 = 2!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 9/29
Swordperson F attack roll: 1, Fail terribly!
Damage to self (1d4-1): 2-1 = 1!
Swordperson F, HP: 9/10
Bug bat bird combat table, in smoke, target is wearing an amnesiac robe (John obviously), fighting as a group based on flock size (9):
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Succeed weakly
4: Succeed weakly
5: Succeed
6: Fail by succeeding
7: Fail by succeeding (with paralysis)
8: Fail by succeeding/fail terribly
Bug bat bird flock B attack roll: 2, Fail!
Continuing to attack Dwain, target is armored against attacks:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail terribly
3: Fail
4: Succeed weakly
5: Succeed weakly
6: Succeed weakly
7: Succeed
8: Fail by succeeding
9: Fail by succeeding/fail terribly
Bug bat bird flock B attack roll: 8, Fail by succeeding!
Damage to Dwain (1d6+1): 2+1 = 3!
Dwain, HP: 7/15
Damage to self (1d6+1): 6+1 = 7!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 2/29
Continuing to attack swordperson F and then G, targets armored against attacks:
1: Fail terribly
2: Fail
3: Fail
4: Succeed weakly
5: Succeed weakly
6: Succeed weakly
7: Fail by succeeding
8: Fail by succeeding/fail terribly
Bug bat bird flock B attack roll: 5, Succeed weakly!
Damage roll (1d4-1): 2-1 = 1!
Swordperson F, HP: 8/10
Bug bat bird flock B attack roll: 2, Fail!
Swordperson G attack roll: 6, Succeed greatly!
Damage roll (1d6+6): 1+6 = 7!
Bug bat bird flock B size: 0/29
Result: 4, Succeed!
Result: 3, Succeed weakly!
John's face turns thoughtful. You have had good fortune with area-of-effect methods in the past--and today a new power flows through your veins. Or, you might say, glows. You give it the very blood in those veins and the bloodbinding activates--(Yeah, a "
▓" symbol flashing on the screen wouldn't make for good animated drama. Fine deal this ain't animated.)
Such a burn! Yet the glowstone only invigorates you; you can feel the heat building in your lungs, yet it will never consume them. It has already eaten all it will from you. Now to let it consume others . . .(After this firebreath, there is smoke which impacts everyone's rolls as shown above. The smoke effect then clears rapidly and does nothing on the following rounds. And as always, this map is just a snapshot: read on for how the circumstances change.)
What an astounding sensation! You breath fire into the oncoming flock, and the majority of their number melts, either figuratively or literally. The survivors move on to Dwain and the two swordpeople who remained. Dwain does pretty much as before, engaging them as they approach and smashing a number of the more successful ones against the wall. Between the lot of you, it is soon over.
Bug bat bird has been struck down! x29
By this point, the other three armed individuals have vanished to the north. Alyssa likewise has taken a dive and is pushing onward through solid rock.(I didn't roll for this "shale-diving" because you are in no peril and there's no logical way you'd be fast enough to cross that much distance. You'll emerge next update into . . . circumstances.)
Whoa, what's going on to the north? John and Dwain hear violence. And hissing. And someone just started shouting "Fire! Fire!" Seriously? Is no one paying attention? Aren't you the one with the burny powers?
Hey, Solde seems to be heading over at a brisk pace.
