While things have been getting worse as far as this decade is concerned... it's always some measure of shitty. But now we have information flying everywhere, all the time. Which makes it seem way, way worse. That and changing cultural norms, of course. People would probably be more upset with Schneidermann having multiple lovers than him beating the shit out of them about half a century ago.

*shrugs* In a lot of ways, things have actually been getting better, current hiccup with the U.S. fucking itself in its own arse notwithstanding. It's mostly just that we're more aware of how shitty various things are, and tolerance for certain strains of pervasive bullshit is rapidly (as historical timescales go) diminishing.

... also the latest generation or three are the first in a while that doesn't have fairly widespread brain damage in a lot of countries (thanks, lead). Probably wouldn't be surprised if some of the younger folks are literally physically more capable of recognizing wtf's been going down and having to deal with the consequences of awareness et al (I.e. stress, lots and lots of stress).

Meanwhile, it's going the opposite direction for the Faroe islands as the traditional whaling they've done for hundreds of years has become poisonous thanks to pods moving through waters near more industrial countries with a lot of mercury runoff. The last few generations have had considerably more brain damage and birth defects as a result!

Well, four of them came out and someone able to wiretap, prosecute and destroy a person could have some degree of power to keep a victim silent. I mean, how do you think Harvey Weinstein and Bill Cosby kept victims silent? "Nobody will believe you, people will just think you are just a money-grubbing whore."

And really, to say Trump paid four self-aware, beautiful feminist ex-girlfriends of Schneiderman to accuse him of non-con beating them during sex? Stormy Daniels would have more moral standing than a feminist who took money to sabotage a Democrat official from Trump. Don't make that kind of accusation against four domestic abuse victims lightly.

For why Miss Daniels is seen has not having much:  She's a professional porn star. Having sex on camera for money is her career. Protesting what to the (moronic) uninitiated seems like her daily job related activity (there is a difference between a prostitute, a whore, and a porn star, but most people cant understand what that is.) seems to violate this.

Ah, see, I was afraid he was trying to claim that Daniels' account of events is less credible than Schneidermann's accusers' because he disapproves of her vocation, as though morality (or sanctimony) somehow enters into questions of fact.
