A typical example of a Waffle House breakfast. That substantial helping of food plus coffee will run you just about $10 depending on local taxes. Subtract waffle and meat and you can be comfortably filled up and squeeze in at about the $6 mark.

Although the choc-chips on the waffle are extra and I typically go plain myself. And despite it's price and the fact that it's fairly plain food and each individual item is rarely notable. Waffle House meals have been some of the best and most memorable in my life. And now I think I know where I'm grabbing lunch.

Yes. They come with a wide variety of toppings (8+!) And can be very tasty. I like the ones with chilli, for example.

Also, Waffle House has excellent bacon egg cheese melts. One of the few things I consider truly worth there.

Yes. They cook them in patties unless you order them "scattered".

There's a wholly idiosyncratic vocabulary associated with the many ways they will cook them, too; it's oddly charming.

Hash browns, smothered and covered, are a meal unto themselves.

You can get a large helping for like 4$.
