Not sure what exactly you mean here, because the plot he was in, was unsuccessful and Fawkes was made into a huge scapegoat.

Good point. Plus it occurs to me that, despite their inherent scumminess, Congress is the best hope for stonewalling Trump. Which kind of says something about the state of the government.

Looks like they are at 50 for opening debate, that means that this shit show is still happening.

I don't even know which one is up for debate, is it the straight repeal or one of their many alternatives?

It seems like it'll be that new 'skinny' version that will be up, but there are like 3 or 4 other versions (not counting the House one), and yeah, nobody, not even McConnell knows what the heck they'll be voting on 100% for sure.

Just shows how much of a mess the whole thing is.

DOUBLE-POST: Interesting, McCain went up and opposed the bill as it stands. He voted for debate and immediately gave a big speech about partisanship, and demanded that the Senate return to its regular way of handling things with input from both sides. It sounds like he wants the bill on the floor to be edited to be not terrible, with input from both sides. Also discussed the Senate's role as a check on the President.

Interesting speech indeed. Still going on, actually.

EDIT: It sounds an awful lot like what someone would write as their final speech in the Senate.

We'll see. McCain likes his rebel reputation, but this can easily just be a set up to a Republican line vote and blaming the Democrats for "refusing to compromise" when the bill is disastrous. Dude's an operator, that he's only got a few months to live doesn't change that.

Well I'm going to stop watching that there, because I'm not so depressed that I watch the Senate do its thing in my spare time, but debate on amendments has just begun, apparently for the "Skinny bill".
