Trump's back to beating the Crooked Hillary/But Her Emails drum. Guess he figures it worked during the campaign, so why not. Fans always love the old hits more than the new material anyways. New implication is that Sessions isn't going after Hillary (when Trump himself dropped the idea shortly after the election), so he's weak, therefore Trump is totally in his right to shitcan him.

Why do I have this feeling this all ends up with Trump in a bunker, slamming a desk while yelling "Fegelein! Sessions!"

The irony of the whole 'maybe I'll pardon myself' thing is that it does not stop him from getting impeached, and doing so would likely ramp up impeachment proceedings.

Also, various Republicans are coming to Sessions defense, so, Trump is going to ruin a heck of a lot of political capital by forcing out Sessions, plus this from Rep. Steve King via Rebecca Berg from RCP. He's probably already ruining it now by trying to force Sessions out so publicly since Sessions is actually a pretty popular guy among his colleagues.

I wouldn't say all of those Trump voters are rabid, insane, or ignorant. A great deal of what happened during the election came down to tribalism and a heck of a lot of factors.

I agree that the politicians are reaping what they've sown, they thought that Trump would be a pawn which would just sign everything they want. Yet, here we are, the Republicans are struggling with the obamacare repeal seeds they've sown. I'm sure they absolutely wish they could back out of the corner that they've sown the seeds to (to stretch the metaphor), but they can't.

MSH is right. The Democrats haven't stopped shit, unless you count fevered rants about shadowy Soros-funded conspiracies. At most they've forced the Republicans to demonstrate party unity when it counts (on the healthcare bill), and exposed the fault lines that were already there, but easily disguised back when people could vote for the craziest shit they wanted to, knowing that an adult would come along soon and stop them. Now that they're the "adults", they've promised Skittles for breakfast and free beer fountains for everyone and there's nobody else to blame when it doesn't happen. Not that that stops them from trying.

In the category of "I'm waiting for an adult to come and save me from myself", one of our resident hillfolk, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) is proposing legislation stripping the CBO of its ability to score proposed Congressional legislation (you know, its' entire raison d' etre) and instead use an aggregate of scores from private thinktanks. You know, such trusted, unbiased sources as the Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute.
