Recounts will be grissly, get ready for those.
That's exactly it Starver. Also lol at the optimism that there wouldn't be conspiracies either way.
Recounts have historically never produced more than low triple digit vote shifts. WI is a 21k vote differential. NV is 12k with more votes to come in. Even Georgia is ~1k after the last batch and more are left. I'm just glad for the Georgia flip since it means a single faithless elector won't be able to fuck things up.
And yeah, there are lots of idiots screaming about fraud because the majority of mail-in ballots are Democrat voters. It's almost as if Trump has spent the last five-odd months screaming to his supporters that they can't trust mail-in voting (which is absolutely baseless, of course). It's also almost as if Democrat voters are more likely to be taking pandemic control measures more seriously than the people that keep coming to in-person rallies with no masks and no social distancing requirements. Likewise, it's almost as if there are massive numbers of working-class Democrat voters who would normally be forced to choose between taking a pay hit they can't afford vs. not getting to vote, all of whom are happy to be able to vote without impacting their ability to feed their family or make rent.
Tl;dr the mail-in disparity is 30% Trump being an idiot and convincing his base not to use it, 30% Trump voters not being worried about large in-person gatherings despite all evidence to the contrary, and 40% the fact that there are more Democrats than Republicans in this country and a lot of them are normally victims of voter suppression methods that mail-in voting does an end run around.
Like I've been saying to people elsewhere, it sure must feel bad to realize you couldn't win a single presidential election for a century or more to come without stopping millions of registered, legitimate American voters from casting ballots. The Republican party has been the party of "do something horrendous and then scream that the other guy is doing it" for decades, so it's no surprise to see so many Republicans crying about voting fraud.
