I like Bernie, I like his policies, but god damn are the people who are pushing his message the biggest assholes I've ever met.

Sometimes I legitimately wonder what the rabid Bernie supporters plan to do in the event that they actually succeed at their most vociferously professed goal and everyone richer than them is made just as miserable as they are.

Anyone else get the feeling that Bloomberg might actually have a chance?

Fuckin' Scary.

No.  Negative stuff about him is everywhere right now.  And it's not just the sort of fuzzy indications of questionable history and untrustworthiness that Pete has.  The internet is exploding right now with infobombs about Bloomberg being an undeniable bigoted oligarch.  His ad blitz isn't going to work in the long run, and he'll regret ever running.

It isn't just the Internet - I've overheard a lot of "does Bloomberg think we'll forget he's a huge racist?" conversations lately. Of course, this area (despite being a D stronghold in Ohio) is extremely pro-gun, so Bloomberg's already poisoned this well quite thoroughly.

Funny how the pro-gun crowd never seems to care very much whether or not minorities get to enjoy that gun access.  Huge racist but pro-gun in a politician usually means (and it's proven with Bloomberg) pro-gun but actively look for racial minorities with guns and arrest or "accidentally" kill them for having them.

Quite the opposite. From the "obviously white supremacist" pro-gun rally in Virginia last month:

"Gun control is inherently racist" is an extremely common (and quite accurate - most gun control laws were passed to keep groups like the Black Panthers in check) talking point - which you'll never, ever hear because of the media bubble. D-leaning media outlets won't cover these arguments because it hurts the "all gun owners are white supremacists who jerk off to the thought of shooting brown people", while R-leaning ones won't cover them because the main groups advocating them (Redneck Revolt, the Socialist Rifle Association, the John Brown Gun Club, among others) are rivals to the NRA.

In case anyone is wondering about the sign.

It's an idiom about things being used for good or for evil. The same water that floats a boat is the water that can sink it.

Let's not get crazy here. There are plenty of people who aren't white but essentially follow white supremacist politics anyway - if you need to ask how such a contradiction can work, look who's in the White House and know contradictions don't matter when it comes to pure belief. The Virginia rally was white supremacist politics, flat out. They even had celebrity speakers denying the holocaust.

To give just one example of what this sort of thing looks like, there are gay neo-Nazis out there who model themselves after Ernst Rohm and will happily proclaim the need to murder LGBT people, just not "their" kind of LGBT people.

Don't imply I'm on your side in that. While I'm less literal about it, I'm sympathetic to the "eat the rich" mentality to a certain point. Tax the fuck out of them. And then if they try anything sneaky to get out of it, you eat them.

Oh, no such implication was meant, although I think you might also misunderstand my side. I certainly don't begrudge them their desire to eat the rich. I just want to know what they want to do once they've eaten the last one, because from what I've seen of Bernie supporters, they're a bloc thoroughly enriched in the sort of assholes who can't think too far beyond a hazy combination of vengeance and schadenfreude. That has historically led to an endless cycle of revolution and balkanization which is decidedly suboptimal.

Now this is some genuine Marxism in the thread.

Are people really going around with cringey signs like that? That blows my mind more than anything else. Especially the incel guy, just going around to advertise how much of a loser he is. What sense does that make?

I don't know the context of that sign - the other one in that image was the important one. Those were from the Lobby Day (the day designated to make your opinions known on end-of-term bills) protest against gun control last month in Virginia.
