Even if they kill your entire family off, they can't claim the domain right away. You have to be dead over a week, and it should be easy to get on during that time and make new characters to claim the domain. It would suck from a role-play perspective, but shit happens I guess.

Castles are definitely good to have, as I'm pretty sure people can't just run in them and attack once they are built. I believe I read something about a siege first? Since most people are still starting up, that shouldn't be a huge concern for a while.

Does anyone else buy/sell goods to make money? Is it viable?

It is very viable right now, at least in Tetra. Some of the price gaps for the fast moving objects are huge. Can buy ropes for 110, sell for 450. Lanterns for 20, sell for 100.

I doubt it will remain like this forever though as more people start playing the market. I've already noticed a few things like wagons losing their edge. (Used to be buy for 50, sell for 500. Now it is buy for 50 sell for 200.)

A single carpenter with passable hammer/saw/plier combo (an easy few hours work with a tool maker, tbh) can build a castle in like 4-5 days, alone.

Make sure they're got good ST/AG/WI/IN, primarily AG/ST/WI - in order of importance.

I always make sure my toolmaker and carpenter are top-notch: pertinent stats in the 12-18s.

Newbies join, go inactive, their auto-set-to-sell crap gets dumped on the market.

They can steal what is in the pockets of your units, including your lord and lady. Not the domain chest.

When you make a new character they automatically become your heir. Basically all 3 of your characters are heir to each other.

My recommendation for anyone looking to settle near other B12ers is to not get too close. Picture how big you want your domain to be down the road, and picture where your B12 neighbors might expand to, and make sure everyone has enough room.

As long as we're in the same general area as each other we should be able to coordinate activities. I think most of the coordination will be related to retaliatory attacks, defense, and coordinated offensive harassment.

I'm not on Zaldor Island though and speak only for myself.

Aye. Trust me... In less than a week, you'll be anywhere between 3-8x bigger than you started.

My main town, after about a week of effort, is around 1,500 acres in size and growing. My secondary domain is about 1,200. My third, 1,100.

Altogether, I'm clocked in at nearly 6k between my heir and I, not counting the guy on Zaldor. (who will have a castle in 5 days, it seems)

I've been looking over Zaldor Island since that seems to be where all bay12ers are, but it does look pretty cramped. Might not be possible to relocate there for me.
