If these Mars Bars are indeed power sources, and we try to jam one in there manually without any sort of protection, that could really rustle our jimmies.

See whether the shelf of bits can be combined with the metal monitor and plate to create a new robot friend! Flip through the pages looking for a diagram.

In the rather likely event that fails, Grab one of the metal bars for ourselves, then go find Friend Robot and describe the items we found, and ask whether he'd like to eat any of them.

Sorry to hear about that Solifuge, hopefully things are looking up for you! And you've been doing a really impressive job with the updates so far!

Hey, take as long as you need man. I know how tough it is to watch your grandfather wither away like that. My paternal grandpa died of Alzheimer's several years ago, and my maternal one is dealing with it now. Just hang in there, alright? It gets easier

Ask in total what would be its preferences in being called :3

Does that make scientific sense? No? Well it's Earth IV and he's a giant crocodile-man. Use your imagination.

Afterthought:

I see that the mysterious tree silhouette in the first post has been replaced with a full pixel-art image.  Nice!

Try this:
Name the kitty "Panzor".
Hopefully it proves to be a worthy name. Totally wasn't haunting this thread. I failed to google-fu how to do alt-text so I decided to scavenge in thread. Found this old, but critical suggestion while doing so.

inspect for a catch on the metal box.

Looking at the Wall Box, you see two small metal nubs on either end.
Some kind of snap-on catches, which the Corroded Bar was connected to.

Perhaps the Bar was supposed to be removable after all!

If these Mars Bars are indeed power sources, and we try to jam one in there manually without any sort of protection, that could really rustle our jimmies.

Since it's apparently removable, you'd like to try replacing the Corroded Bar with something.
Still, you'd like not getting electrocuted again a whole heck of a lot more.

As such, you devise a cunning plan...

>Make makeshift gloves out of loose paper.

>Wear ye makeshift gloves.

>Insert ye replacement fuse.

First, you stow the Corroded Metal Bar in your Duffel Bag, to free up one of your hands.

Next, you take the Loose Papers on the desk, and cup them in your free hand.
Using them like you'd use a towel to grab hot cookware, you pick up one of the Reddish Bars from the shelves.

It looks a lot like the Corroded Bar, but more Reddish. And less, you know, Corroded.
You're willing to bet it's just a newer, non-burnt-out version of Whatever These Bars Are.
Fuses or Batteries, or something? You're just going to call them Fuses for now.

Gripping the Fuse(?) firmly in your paper-clad hand, you shove it into the Fuse(?) Box.
You struggle with it a bit, wiggling it into position, until it pops onto the catches with a metallic snap.

Immediately after you do, you start to hear a faint buzzing hum coming from the Fuse Box.
Thankfully, you don't get shocked. You do start to feel a lot of heat bleeding through the Paper, though.
You decide to let go, before the Fuse gets too hot.

Looking at your Paper Glove, you notice that one of the Loose Papers was burned.
Dang... the text is pretty thoroughly toasted. And unfortunately, it wasn't the page you'd already read.
There'll be no reading it, the way it is now. The rest of the pages look okay, though.

But hey, at least you didn't burn your hand?

Before you can get too upset about it, a few amber Emergency Lights flicker on.
The console doesn't light up, but basic power seems to be back on. At least in here.

This ought to make finding your way much easier. How's that for progress?

This may or may not be helpful to say, but . . . if that was a "short" update, I didn't notice that much.  Yup, it's shorter.  It said everything I needed it to say so that I "felt updated."  So if you're at a low point in the amount of brain you can devote to this task, then don't worry!  Anything you toss out is looking to be fun.

And I interrupt here to add:

Check for any changes to functional objects, including the drain area, the "elevators" (or whatever is behind the rusty metal we first found), and all forms of metal boxes everywhere.

Then other stuff.  Revelations could change plans partway.

If you're only going to do the actions with the most upvotes, I might as well stop suggesting.

She does actions that work out--not the ones that generally have the most upvotes [see: all my suggestions :P]
Don't be like that here. :P Keep suggesting. It's like any other ISG where actions are picked out.
