Name: Nayrous
Species: Complex information wave state or/and (but also neither) human male.
Appearance: Pale and skinny, black banged hair, silver eyes, youthful.
Biography: Staring past his own reflection Nayrous watches as his neon haired twins cuddle in a perpetual state of orgasm. They shift their arms and legs to and from with a blissful smile. Nayrous steps down the cool steel stairs that rim the large, glass fishbowl that houses his kin. The ecstasy of their combined psyche is truly paralyzing. As Nayrous reaches the bottom of the stairs he is greeted metallic voice, "I'm afraid we have failed you,"
Nayrous turns, curious.
"For 500 hundred earth years we have kept you from recording memories. As you age your grief multiplied endlessly. Now it would take hundreds of thousands more of your kin to sustain you."
Nayrous' barely hears his host, for he is entranced by his kin, their joyous vibe invades his mind.
"... Perhaps millions more."
Green hair, blue hair, red hai- Hair that has been soaked red. Nayrous frowns. His eyes sink. The bottom of the bowl is a pile of twisted limbs, blood and the contents of crushed skulls tightly packed against the floor of the giant glass bowl.
"The weight of those above crushes those beneath. Their kin do not even hear the screams," The voice explains without inflection.
Nayrous kneels over and reaches out his finger towards one of his kin. She is slowly being crushed, her nose already flattened against the bottom of the glass bowl. She returns his stare with one eye. Her hand navigates the pooling blood and fragments. Her finger and arm extends until there is but a layer of glass separating his finger from hers.
There is no sorrow in her eyes.
"An agony that cannot be heard does not exist. This is true of anything which fails to propagate information throughout space."
Her skull gives.
Nayrous watches in blissful numbness. He doesn't want to be numb any more.
"You were perfect."
All he can do is squeeze his eyes shut.
"We collapsed your state of existence to prevent your information from becoming to complex for propagation in this spacetime. You are the focal point of the universe. The true son of man. A perfected spirit."
Nayrous feels cool metals arms reach out gently grab his flesh.
"Now you will know sin. Your grief will multiple infinitely, you will never belong to this spacetime."
The numbness intensifies. Nayrous slumps into a deep sleep.
Later he'll wake up, naked with the exception of a small tight black bracelet labeled "Namen Augen" in a location and setting that the GM selects.
Additional notes: Nayrous is a complex existence. Nayrous' position must be constantly checked or 'measured' to prevent his information waveform from expanding, this is normally achieved by a small and quite resilient bracelet labeled "Namen Augen".
It takes more than someone seeing him to 'measure' his position. It takes well made science trinket by a scientist that has some vague idea of what Nayrous is (doesn't require GM to fully understand the mechanism).
If for any reason his position fails to be measured he will flicker between states, some physical (a mad beast, or fair maiden some other embodiment of his condition), sometimes as a psychic cloud (a overwhelming sad presence that invades all life), sometimes he will pull his surroundings into a parallel
dream space requiring
resolution (completion of a mini narrative or other GM stuff) before things return to normal.
Resonance if Nayrous suffers information wave form expansion around a particularly keen ally they can attempt psychic
resonance. When attempting resonance a character recreates Nayrous' mental state as best they can, hopefully a small resonance of states will occur and Nayrous' consciousness will grow into the resonating character's mind. Nayrous will share the creatures psyche. Note: this can happen unintentionally as long as Nayrous is in a expanded wave form.
In this
psyche sharing state Nayrous stops flickering as his psyche is being measured and thus his information wave form collapses into a definite state. He can then overthrow the the hosts mind with a
battle of wills! or he can simply aid his host by preforming focused psychic actions. In this form he can also invoke his identity.
Nayrous can make
assumptions that alter reality these can be made about anything that the present actors have no knowledge about. It's like lucid dreaming. If he sees a box and no one around knows whats in it, Nayrous might have made an assumption about what's in it that decided what is in it. That looks like it has food! Oh damn food! Just like that. However if he goes to say, Space Joe's Space shop the box didn't have food in it. It had whatever Space Joe put in it.
If he learns of this Nayrous could try to game this for his own benefit; however, it should be considered that this could turn out really bad for him. Maybe one day a party member just won't stop telling ghost stories. Now Nayrous is walking down dark abandoned halls thinking of ghosts! That's bad! He can't always control what assumptions he makes (the GM can though
). Inversely a keen party member could try to exploit this by tricking Nayrous into expecting this or that.
Nayrous'
Identity: this is Nayrous' primary feature. Nayrous represents the infinite states of possible existence of the a being too complex for this reality. Overtime Nayrous will come to understand this. He can then
elect a
identity this process must be completed out of hardship in meditation (maybe faster later). After successfully
elects an
identity Nayrous will grow into it. Finding the tools and assuming bodily features that he imagined for himself. Note this has two components
form and
magnitude, form is what he chooses to be and
magnitude is the degree to which he assumes the form (aka sort of like power level).
Nayrous'
Identity is likely to nail the
form, failing will cause him to fall into a private
dream space (again requiring
resolution) or give him a large headache (in case the GM doesn't want to resolve the other effect) but is likely to start out weak in
magnitude and later grow stronger as the game progresses in his ability to properly
elect his current spacetime information state. His
forms can be chosen freely but the
magnitude cannot. That will keep him balanced with other characters.
Basically he's like a shapeshifter that can provide himself with items; however, sometimes vanishes when he tries to change himself.
