So, 3 games at once. This will get interesting...
So, I've been playing the new Shadow Lords mode for Killer Instinct 2013...a lot, and I thought "Why not give it the Dead Rising 2 treatment?"
For those of you who have no idea what Shadow Lords actually is,
this article should give you a good idea. I mean it, if you have no idea what Shadow Lords actually is, read that article, it'll save you a couple of headaches later.
Now, I'm assuming you read the article, so let's get down to Mechanics to avoid the Dead Rising 2 Triple Post.
The game will play similarly to Shadow Lords from KI2013.
If you've read the article, then you know the basic gist. Winning means you stop the threat, losing means the character dies and that place gets corrupted based on the level of the enemy. You know how it goes, you read the article. If you seriously haven't read it, I'll copy past my explanation from Wiki Warfare: Cataclysm's Discord:
"Basically, the story of Killer Instinct is that an otherworldly demon named Gargos wishes to conquer Earth via any means necessary. The story of Shadow Lords is that Gargos's invasion has begun, via way of him breaching the dimensional barrier and sending "Mimics": copies of the games playable characters, to corrupt places like North and South America, Asia, Europe, and Africa. If corruption spreads halfway through, a character named Omen will spawn in with one of Gargos's powers. Kill that Omen, and Gargos loses that power. That's important, because as time progresses, missions of defeating Mimics and other characters get harder and harder, meaning you will lose zones, and Gargos will come, leading to an awesome final battle where you either win or lose. Essentially, it's a Roguelike race against the clock. You can craft items, there's semi-permadeath, and it's special events and the fact that you can make decisions in a similar style to FTL: Faster Than Light means that no turn is the same from another, let alone any game...and that's the basics. There's also special events that only happen for certain characters, quest chains, special loot chests that give items after every fight, and so on."
There you go! Same basic principle. Once a character does a mission, they can't be used for any other mission in that turn. Now then, combat. That's the weird part...
My first idea was to use the source game, Killer Instinct, and use it's COM Vs. COM mode to simulate an actual fight, and go from there. It'd make the fights watchable...for me, and it would be cool. Then I realized that Shadow Lords's Health system carries damage from fight to fight (many a healing item was used at the beginning of turns.), which can't be simulated by COM Vs. COM mode. So, I then figured I'd do it turn based, with a d10, similar to Wiki-Warfare: Cataclysm. So, we're using that system.
The Health System will depend on the Game Mode chosen, but no matter which way it works, injuries carry over from match to match unless you have healing items. If a character, PC or Otherwise, loses, then they die. There are ways of reviving dead characters, but they usually need to be bought/crafted out of rare drops.
So you guys got the basic gist by now, right? You fight, or you die. Simple. However, instead of doing a straight rip of Shadow Lords like Dead Rising 2 is to...Dead Rising 2, I instead had the idea of choosing what way to do the game:
Shadow Lords: No need to explain. Fight Mimics, Stop Omens, Take Down Gargos. Health Points. Killer Instinct characters Only.
RWBY: Grimm Apocalypse: Instead of Gargos, battle the antagonists revealed in Volumes 1-3 of Rooster Teeth's show RWBY. Battle Roman Torchwick, Mercury Black, Emerald Sustrai, Adam Taurus, and Cinder Fall as panic and corruption spread throughout Remnant through the White Fang, Militia Groups, and the ever growing population of the Creatures of Grimm. Realistic Damage/"Chunky Salsa" with Aura as Armor Points. RWBY or Original Characters Only.
My Little Pony: Equestrian Domination: A new threat is now looming over the Kingdom of Equestria, and things look bleak...unless you have a say in it. As show locations like Ponyville, Canterlot, Manehatten, Cloudsdale, and other places get assaulted by one of the show's villains, rise up and strike back at them and their minions! Realistic Damage/"Chunky Salsa". MLP or Original Characters Only.
Earth IV: Emergence: Emerging from my imagination comes a brand new world to explore. Frought with monsters and Magic, defend locations such as the City-State known as Angel Fire, and the destroyed ruins wrought with nuclear winter known as Britannia, stop a threat no one's ever seen before as you defend a brand new world. Realistic Damage/"Chunky Salsa". Original Characters only.
Multiverse: One World Against it All. As one random world comes under fire from the beings that hide behind the turn of space-time, a few brave souls choose to combat this new foe by any means necessary. Realistic Damage/"Chunky Salsa". Any Character allowed.
So, if enough people join in, I'll start a poll to see which game type gets chosen, and we can get started.
