"Comrades I too agree with Thomason's suggestion for a name, however a pressing matter is what to do for the military, I would suggest that once the industry is set up and the people have the basics they need that we set aside a few factory's produce ammo and rifles for our troops as we will desperately need it, we do not need anything but arms for our ground forces at the moment as I don't believe the fascists have a air force yet. However we should still make it so we cant be so easily defeated by our enemy's."

It currently is, the issue is that I frankly have no bloody fookin' idea how many militia and forigen volunteers are mixed in with the regulars. Given enough time I can incorparte them and give us a look at where we need more men. And on currency and weapons we have enough rifle and ammo to keep them armed, we need trucks, field artillery, anti tank weaponry, and more mgs.

On the subject of internal currency I think it'll he simpler to have one of the Bill and coin variety then a... Voucher system. Especially since men tend to prefer getting a decent wage while fighting to the death, and they might get uppity at not getting their back pay.

"What is this thing you call 'pay'?

From each according to their ability, to each according to their need.  They will receive what is needed, assuming we can produce it.  As would their families, as would everyone.

This is not a hard concept, is it?"

"Our military certainly is lacking in in most regards and I believe what would help is instead of shipping our revolutionaries off to help fight in other wars we draft them into the army along with any other militias presence, the reason being is we do not want to draw heat from the yankee or other neighbours about our communistic efforts till we are strong enough and with them in the army it will help keep them occupied. It may be also good to incentive a 3 year conscription for everyone over age of 18 so our comrade may gain experience and combat finesse. I agree with comrade O'Neil point on us needing artillery and military vehicles but it's best left to those more suited in that field to be more aware of our problems."

"My thoughts if I may say on Foreign policy which I may speak might upset some of my fellow comrades in this room, is that from studying comrade Stalin way of dealing with other fellow Communists country they tend to be mere satellite state owing only allegiance to him which I think is purely against what were striving to do, he has shown to be very effective against the fascist threat and very good in administration if I my say myself, but his constant paranoia and utter lack for other comrades well being leaves me utterless for words. One good comrade who I see has done well in the field is comrade Tito to not only stifled nationalism and is much beloved war hero he also is loved by his citizens and is much more effective in good manner. So my thought is we improve our relations with countries of Egypt as their social movement is growing, as well as improving relations with Yugoslavia, South Africa. As for the Yankees, British and French frog eatters my thought is it's best to get them to acknowledge our right as sole heir of FON and keep relations steady to stop them plotting intervention in our country while were still young and undefended. "

Collins coughs then grabs the glass containing water he lefeft on the table and slowly sipped it down before continuing.

"As for First Sectary I propose we either introduce a rotatory system or election system for which high party members can run for First Sectary, as both stop any comrade from straying from the path an trying to amass power to themselves, as for private enterprise only acceptable private forms should be worker owned or state sponsored as to stop the bourgeoisie taking control over our comrades. As for comrade Thomspons ideas on 'pay' it would be better to keep different forms as comrades who studied to be be doctors and such wouldn't appericate be giving same as comrades who sit in offices filing papers, but pay should be in simpler forms than the Yankee way as to make the worker feel he is treated well."

I stand by Mr.Eoin on the matter of Foreign Policy, I didn't fight for a independent nation to just hand over control to a dictator in the east, instead of  a monarch of the west. and comrade Thomason while I do understand your family use to be quite rich before you took over, but what do I know about running anything? I've only been a officer for the past 25 odd years and commanded a fragment army through a brutal civil war while keeping it supplied and fed and with enough pay scrounged up from me and the rest of the officers coffers to feed their families.

- *Naming our country and claiming territory* -

“Mr. Thompson’s suggestion of the Peoples' Federation of Nigeria is acceptable to me. We should definitely be seen as the hegemonic power of Nigeria and it’s only true successor. We should not seek to expand further until that goal is achieved lest we anger the powers we are looking to gain material aid and recognition from.”

- *Creating Ministries* -

“This I am not certain about, but we should look to ensure that all of us are able to assist in a ministry that our passions or skill sets lie, no?”

- Foreign Policy -

“I do not believe there is anything inherently wrong with the acceptance of foreign aid, as long as the strings attached do not end up being a noose around our neck. We should look to the countries that recognized us first to see what assistance they were willing to provide.
We must frame our fight against fascism as the most important issue as to why all nations must support us. During the 2nd world War many nations that would normally be at each others throats came together to defeat Fascism. They must do so again here. Damagaram is too weak to be the flag bearer in this fight. We must show that we alone are able to keep the fascists from spreading across Africa, but we will need their support, with both economic and military aid.”

- Internal Policy -

“All our citizens should be treated fairly. i do not like the idea of a second class citizenry based on race or cultural identity, for we are all members of this great revolution. I suggest conducting an in-depth census without delay to ascertain exactly what populations and cultures make up our great nation.”

- Economic Matters -

“This is not my strong suit, so please my brothers add more if you like. Unless we can secure food aid from other countries I feel like using our crops for economic gains is a risky proposition, especially before we conduct a census. Using our iron until we can expand our industry makes more sense to me. Perhaps more geological surveys should also be kept in mind for the future.”

- Foreign revolutions -

“I believe Sokoto would actually be the best place for our revolutionaries to first set their sights on. The nation is a power keg ready to explode as is. If you think that sending them next door is too incendiary tough I Myanmar would be an excellent second choice and an easy victory which we can build experience from and gain a new ally.”

- *Ideological Matters* -

“An outright ban of religion I feel would cause a great uproar. It should be clear that it will not be part of any government though. I’d also like to ensure that no education institute is allowed to base their teaching on religious texts or teachings. Slowly phasing it out while the youth is young will be important for future generations I believe.”

- *The Matter of Nigeria* -

“Rearming our military is important, but I hope that we can send operatives to both Damagaram and Sokoto to destabilize their tenuous grasps. We should put priority on finding those who hold power and look for ways to reduce or remove them from it, while finding socialist partners to nurture and assist.”

- Military Matters -

“Many of you have suggested the military is an important matter, and I do not disagree. But instead of diverting our much needed industry to produce weapons and ammo, I suggest we look to the world’s surplus as our solution. The 2nd Great War is over and millions of weapons sit unused gathering dust. Surely they can be convinced to give some to us at a favourable rate? The Soviet Union would hate to see a fellow socialist paradise fall to the Fascists of the East, no? Tanks, boats, planes, we should accept anything and everything offered that is good value.”

- *Deimperialisation* -

“A system to return the wealth to our nation and our people must be put in place. For too long Colonials have taken advantage of our land and our toil. I feel that a balanced slow approach is needed. I believe a voluntary nationalization plan should be put in place now or in the very near future allowing those who wish to join our revolution the opportunity to gain a favourable rate immediately. Those who do not wish to be a part of that will be bought out forcibly after an agreed upon time. Say a year or two.”

- More issues -

“Comrade Morgan, your health is one of our utmost concerns. The revolution would not be where it is today without you. I think it only fair we look into medical solutions for you. Perhaps we could send for a specialist to look after you?”

Argyle is standing, pacing about on the stage.

"Comrade O'Neil, while you know much of the military, you know not of my family history.  I built my business myself, thank you very much.

I agree with Comrade Akala, a census would be most prudent, and a voluntary nationalization.  Granted, the plan I planned is to eventually nationalize entirely, but we cannot expect everyone to change immediately.

As for the subject of religion, I feel religion does no harm so long as it does not call for attacks upon us, and yet even then would prefer to tolerate the speech and punish the act.

Foreign aid would be helpful, but I feel that we must manage the expectations of others do that we are not...Unduly encumbered."

"Comrade Morgan!  That is quite counter to the very ideals we represent!".

"I agree with comrade Akala on voluntary nationalizing our country at semi pace, as for religion it's would do best to phase it out as we would not want preachers undermining our efforts or causing rifts between our people. Comrade Morgan it would be best for all of us if you seek out medical specialists as our revolution needs great men to contribute to it and we do not need our men matrying them for the cause as they need to live to push it further. As we seen the Imperial Japanese and German facistists insane decisions."

There is an excited murmur in the assembly hall. Everyone present is busy gossiping about the matters being discussed in the room where the Worker's Party leadership discussed the future of the country. The chatter is noticable even behind a thick oaken door. The tattling massess would like [d100 = 4] the war be resumed immediately and that nationalisation occuring as soon as possible by revoking all propoerty that the kulaks owned.

Oh, how wrong they are.

During your discussion, you quickly decide that the long term goal for now would be industrializing the country, reforming the military and gaining international support.

You prepare yourselves to present these plans to the gathered crowd. [d100 = 43 - 10 (not what they want to hear)] As you announce the direction of the country, you notice a definite hostile murmur among the crowd. What the men gathered here hear is certainly not what they expected. Perhaps war could be postponed, to gather strength before the attack, but to prancy around and dance how the Anglos, the Frogs and the Yankees? Haven't they fought for liberation from the bourgeoisie? Shall their blood and toil be foregone in favor of the empires of the west? And the cowardly policy of nationalisation? Letting the colonial oppressors to voluntarily buy out? Making the secretariates an elected position?  Are we now the decadent democracies of the west!?

The various groups and coteries of the room start gathering in groups, visibly turning small, friendly discussion into ruthless factionalising. The most radical of the factions, the hawkish red vanguard starts to yell in disgust at the centrist proposals given. They outright reject any reconciliation with the west and demand more... revolutionary policies. Like taking all property of the upper classess, executing the "enemies of the people". You clearly understand who do they consider the "enemy of the people now".

You quickly decide to throw the radicals a bone and shove Mohlrami under the bus. Gerasim Rodionovich makes a few mentions on how  the socialist spirit would be appeased by nothing else than communism, and that compromise is to betray the revolution. A few pointed remarks from Akala about how comrade Mohlrami decided to ease the country into socialism direct the hatred from the vanguard towards the young diplomat. Now, instead of calling to revolt again, they [79 + 10 (diplomacy is compromise, and these men hate compromise)] demand that Ajhihad Mohlrami steps down immediately and leave the country in shame. You are surprised they don't outright demand his execution, but exile is not exactly a glorious way out. Within the week, Mohlrami is removed from the Party and is unofficially exiled to Yugoslavia. To replace him and to warm the reformers to yourselves you instead invite Enitan Alofayan and Englebert Thompson to the fray. Appointing another Anglo does nothing to endear you towards the nationalists, but they content themselves with Alofayan.

The First Party Congress of the Worker's Party of the People's Federation of Nigeria is over. It achieved little more than utter division of the already war-torn leadership. However the good intentions of the partymen could have been, they appeased only a small minority of non-radical centrist pacifists, alienated the red vanguard and angered the nationalists. Your support is waning, but this is only the beginning.

Nationalisation policy results:

[d100 = 28] The voluntary nationalisation policy is an outright failure. The landowners are very reluctant to give up their treasured land, and start to bundle together and form comitees to defend themselves. Industrial takeovers are much easier, considering most of the tiny factory base is located in Lagos, where you can easily "encourage" the owners to sell out their property. [d100 = 59] The proletariate is mostly contented by that, but some dissenting voices are heard.

**TO BE CONTINUED**

Diplomacy Results:
[d100 = 79] You establish makeshift temporary consulates in major european countries. The British are mostly content with a stern reminder that they wouldn't want to see any radicalism. As you present your moderate internal policies to Atlee, he seems mostly satisfied, and offers some developmental aid. He also proposes to spearhead your admission to the UN and securing you more backing if you continue your peaceful work.

You also approach marshal Broz, and he is more than happy to support you internationally and possibly even send aid. In return, he asks for support in the Greek civil war and a hardline stance towards Stalin. Within the week, Yugoslavia officially recognises People's Federation of Nigeria as the rightful successor state to the Federation of Nigeria.

Finally, you are sent a letter from Joseph Stalin himself, congratulating you on your victory against the imperialists. He immediately offers to send you weaponry and aid in industrialisation efforts with no strings attached. He expresses his surprise at your "soft" policies. He suggests that you might want to continue warring with the other Nigerian countries and to that goal he offers you experienced Red Army officers, volunteers and military equipment. He also implies that it would be wise to rebuke the Yankees for their support of the weak Damagarami. He extends his guarantees in case of foreign intervention, something that is in a few days officially stated.

President Truman refuses any and all attempts to establish embassies on American soil nor does he send diplomats to PFoN. In a speech to the Congress he states that the Americans must unite against the fascist and communist regimes of the world. He proposes an act expressing American support for the Damagaram Republic, sending them military and economical support and deeming Sokoto and the PFoN as "bloodthirsty rebelling radicals that must be stopped". The bill passes and soon enough the young republic receives aid delivered by air. In an interview Senator Joe McCarthy states that PFoN is "a rusky satellite that should be eradicated from the face of earth".

Army Reform:
[d100 = 81] Instituting a three year draft does a lot to increase the army size and is seen among the populace as a step in good direction. The Nationalists are contented with this and mostly end their grumbling. The army structure is still not defined and the recruits are poorly if at all equipped, but with foreign aid on the horizon, the morale is running high.

Non-Governmental Aid:
[d100 = 83] Various charities prop up in Europe and Canada gathering money and buying food intended for Nigeria. [d3 = 2] It is more or less evenly split between Damagaram and the People's Federation of Nigeria. [d4 = 4] Even Sokoto gets some aid, though there are rumours of the food being seized and given only to Edo and Ijaw peoples. Nevertheless, your citizens don't starve en masse today.

Census:

Religion Question:

--- Josip Broz leadership is nigh impossible without a charismatic leader. You would need to either get yourselves a hero or establish a prim and proper cult of personality, and even then you would still give away most of your powers to a single man due to him gaining all the popular support of the country. You yourselves mostly aren't recognized as war heroes yet. ---

Argyle sends a letter to the landowners, on Thomason Industries letterhead.

"Look.  You will face revolt from the masses if you simply sit on your hands and hold on to your lands.

I do not want this bloodshed, as much as they might.

Please.  For everyone's sakes.  If you must stay, at least find a place within the system.  You will find popular opinion on your side should you do so, and may find a place in management if you were not abusive, or surrendered gracefully.  Please, consider this, for everyone's sake.  Think of those you care about.

Argyle Thomason, Minister of the Economy of the Peoples' Federation of Nigeria"

Meanwhile, Argyle, despite lingering misgivings about the rightwingers, holds a meeting of the Ministry of the Economy, open to anyone and everyone who cares to attend, with special direction to any of his management structure that their attendance is required.  The agenda is 'appointments and planning'.

"How many here were managers of any sort before the revolution?"

MinEc Open Meeting:
Find managers, using simple tests like 'Two subordinates are feuding because they believe you favor the other.  What do you do?'  The ones with good situational awareness and people skills are preferably selected.
Build tree of managers, sprinkling Argyle's known quantities within as a check on any who would abuse their power.
Distribute the managers to the rest of the country, with orders to meet with and help organize local workers.
Say something to the effect of 'if you abuse it, you will lose it'.

Simultaneously tell the trusted managers to set up an anonymized complaints department that reports to trusted managers in the requisite command chains.

A manager is trusted if either: A) They have a good work history with Argyle or B) they have worked for a month with no observable discrepancies.

====

Argyle puts his name forwards for the position of First Secretary, however grudgingly, because it must be done and he cannot think of anyone else suited except a certain exiled diplomat.

Enitan gets to work organising the nationalised factories outputs and processes; Leaving about a tenth for military production while the rest are devoted to goods necessary to industrial & economic expansion.

Enitan also gets to work inspecting the layout and supporting infrastructure of the factories, attempting to make the layout more productive and efficient. Furthermore, Enitan also spends some time among the workers to see if they have any concerns about the factory conditions and the like.

Enitan also plans a meeting with Argyle Thomasson, intending to see what materials the factories need, what the nation can produce domestically and what would need to be imported to get production up to proper speed.

Enitan throws his hat into the ring for First Secretary, despite his inexperience in the role
