So it was like a binary search, except the question is "Has the input been brutally murdered?", and it only ever returns True.

Do you think it's the act of summoning thats the problem (maybe lore reasons)

Or is it the prospect of flooding the game with independent NPC entities?

the latter, previous games with similar systems have gotten outright nightmarish when it comes to balancing summons, let alone managing them

Adding my two cents to the matter, the wrench, if allowed, should be a static bonus. Not proportional to a stat.
