If you meant to find out more about our present location and/or its relation to other locations, to "get/find one's bearings" fits perfectly, I just used a pun to say it simply can't be done right now.

Mustering all the willpower you have, you force your stressed muscles to work, rolling onto your front before pushing yourself onto your feet…

…and your vision suddenly starts to fade, and new stars pop before your eyes. You quickly drop back down to one knee as a wave of light-headedness threatens to put you back on the floor.

Once you can think clearly again… or as well as you could before all your blood left your head, you stand back up, before taking your first steps towards the darkness. The rock beneath your feet gives way to cracked, dry mud and the occasional patch of grass. You stumble onwards…

Sense [18---]

…to feel a stabbing pain in your lead hand. Recoiling, you put your injured limb to your mouth. The pain subsides quickly, as you recover from the shock of getting assaulted in the pitch darkness. Reaching your hand back out, you tentatively look for the culprit.

After a bit of aimless waving, you find a metal wire stretched across your path, periodically along this wire are loops of more wire, cut at an angle to create spikes. It would appear you caught your hand on one of these. Investigating further, there appears to be three more such wires, spaced evenly below the first, and stretching the same way.

You carefully split two of these wires apart, giving you enough space to squeeze through without getting caught further. You continue onwards, the ground here wetter and with even less grass, the smell unpleasant. You walk onwards for approximately twenty five minutes, before coming across a large basin, coming up to approximately your waist and six meters in diameter. It appears to be full of water. Feeling this as good a place to stop as any, you lean against the basin and consider your options:

-   Continue further into the darkness
-   Wait here until morning, or your contact arrives, whichever happens first
-   Something else?
