 You wait for a few minutes. The bandits seem to be sticking around for a while, and judging by the sound of clinking glass and chatting that you hear during the quieter moments, you can guess why. Eventually, they submit out of the tavern, and into the chaotic street.

You open the door just a crack, and take a look around the room. When you see no one else in the tavern, you stand up behind the counter. Outside, the chaos seems to have diminished or moved to another part of town, but you can still hear the occasional crack of a pistol or shotgun nearby.
