The trump situation is interesting. Almost everybody I've talked to about him will say that they think he's completely unacceptable, a bully, a clown, etc., and every time I hear him speak I'm once again baffled by his incomprehensibility and absurdity. But I don't think there's much of substance that's really separating people from Trump, which is what's really disturbing about it. There are many Sanders supporters I know that I'm thinking only really have a minor degree of separation from supporting Trump, a different side of identity politics than any real opposition.

It's like people's expectations are so lowered by knowing that he's a joke, that if he throws even a shred of sensible thought at them, it gets more thoughtful consideration than the words of a serious candidate, which is dismissed immediately.

I think Hillary catches a lot of shit that she doesn't specifically deserve, I'm still not voting for her because her behavior bothers me.  I don't like Trump's attitude towards this whole thing, he's doing nothing but manipulating media for personal gain.  I'd vastly prefer a different candidate, but I honestly don't know who.

I think it is more image based than anything, she does act as a purely political animal, and that really puts me off.  She acts like she cares about something, then when it is no longer politically favorable she drops it (with exception to her stance on firearms, but that hasn't gone so well for her so she's distanced herself from it somewhat.)  It makes her hard to trust, the media certainly doesn't help but part of the blame is on her for not being completely clear about her intentions  (Yes, I know this is basic political maneuvering, but that is the whole problem.)  I mean, simply, I don't like politicians.  Too much concern about appearance, too much focus on deceit, not enough actual action.

Trump's no better, his whole shtick is to be completely amorphous, just spitting out whatever he thinks will get attention.  Sadly it's a good strategy, if he were going for a lesser office than President I think it would just about secure him an election.

No, I can't, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be talked about or dealt with.  That's why I don't like politicians, I want people in office who will actually attempt to address issues, not the 'scare of the week' that dominates today.

Makes me think of this:

Clinton was just at a high profile rally with Elizabeth Warren.  They talked about manufacturing, climate change, the minimum wage, equal pay, banking reform, taxes and Donald Trump.

Guess which of these subjects got the headline?

So I typed "Hillary Clinton infrastructure" into youtube and I got this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zZvYrc4s0o

I picked the result which had the most views and featured Clinton herself.  It has 2474 views now that I've seen it (the highest result was a campaign add with 100k views).  You can blame the media but personally I blame the voters.  The media didn't tell people what to watch on youtube.  I mean listen to her voice.  You can see some genuine wonky passion in there.

It would have been nice if that had received more attention, like the woman said, our infrastructure (and the problem goes far, far beyond roads) is straight up failing, and it is my single largest concern about the US right now.  Not to say there aren't other extremely important issues, but the basic functionality of our cities and transit systems has tremendous impact on the country as a whole.  And while it was certainly refreshing to hear that she has at least paid some mind to the subject, I would very much like to hear what she wants to DO about it.
