I don't know exactly how the sailing athletes are getting diseases from the water unless they're falling in it. Swimmers? Sure, I can see that. But I've actually done quite a bit of sailing in the bay and never got any diseases related to the water.

It was a rhetorical question guys, thus the quotes, lol I saw the comments earlier that it was corrupt officials who had tricked (or bribed or whatever) the IOC into doing it for Rio.

Also, looking at wiki, there has yet to be an olympics in the mideast (not anytime soon with the going ons), the Indian subcontinent, SE Asia, or Africa, wonder when we'll see an Olympics in Africa perhaps.

Also, mind you, the australian team rejected the australian acommodations on the olympic villa, due to the fact that several of the rooms have exposed wiring, are just dirty with construction related material and just unfinished in general.

In Saő Paulo, the mother in law of Formula-1 boss and billionaire Bernie Ecclestone has been kidnapped last friday. The kidnappers have contacted the billionaire asking 33 million euros ransom. This is the highest ransom ever asked in a Brasil kidanapping case.

Săo Paulo has long been known as Brasil's "kidnapping capital", with someone being kidnapped on average every 27h.
Over the past few years this figure went down a bit, after the formation of a special anti-kidnapping brigade. Still, for criminals, kidnapping is still the most popular way of making quick money.
