Help with breath attacks
« on: June 02, 2016, 03:36:01 pm »

Alright, I'm trying to make a frost dragon with a freezing breath attack. My thinking was that I'd just find the material template for "Dragon-fire"  And modify its temperature.  As you probably already know, I ran into problems.  Could someone enlighten me to the way to do this?

Sidenote:I'm also trying to mod in The Mantis Shrimp(And accompanying giant variant) but that has other problems altogether.

Other sidenote: Awhile ago after I tried to mod in an orc race and caused all sorts of problems, one interesting thing in the wacky world I ended up with, was that there were human and elf dark fortresses as well as goblin and orc ones.  Not sure what caused it though.

It's not super straightforward.  Good luck.

Thanks, but I'm still lacking basic understanding about material emission attacks in general.  Where are the templates for the material being emitted?  Specifically, fire would be nice.

Fire is different than most material emissions.  Usually you would define a material in the creature's own body and breathe it out.  Fire breath (as well as fireballs and dragonfire), however, is hardcoded and does not require a material.

Check the cave floater's juice spraying interaction for a better example.
