Hoping to avoid being involved in the politics much, Ilyena walks between the colonists, trying to find those with interest/talent in hunting.

With whatever group she gathers she sets off to the edge of the area to be deforested, and sets up a small camp.

Artifact: Gaspard's Swamp Kit: A kit for traveling the often unpredictable deep marshes in Louisiana in the 26th century, technically this is just a set of survival and navigation tools that have been tailored specifically for swamp use by Gaspard and have been used for years. Those years of use, however, combined with Gaspard's sharp mind and natural inclination for swamp travel, have ensured that they have developed a few quirks which Gaspard knows deeply and intimately, and has turned to his advantage to give him a bit of instinctual sensitivity -- the kit gives a bonus to navigation and survival in swamps, but only when Gaspard uses it.
Backstory: In the future, those marshes that do remain have often become a fair bit more inhospitable than they were when they were found. This certainly applies to southern Cajun Louisiana, the amount of Cajun culture that is left in so many cases only kept alive by isolation via the marshy terrain, isolation strengthened by the increasing hostility of the swamps. The Cajun families that lived in the swamps naturally developed a talent living in them, but Gaspard was always something special. From childhood, Gaspard was something of a quick thinker, and he had clear ambitions to not be stuck in one spot the rest of his life; it wasn't that he didn't appreciate the marshes, for he loved them, but the idea being rooted in one spot for all of his life wasn't something he could stomach. So he gained a penchant as he grew up for wandering around through the swamps to various towns and eventually even cities, and in the process elevated that familial talent for the swamps into an absolute calling, wandering through the marshiest areas of his state and other places in the world with a natural ease. So when the announcement of colonization of a swamp world came up, Gaspard immediately volunteered (he could travel places no men had ever traveled, while not being stuck in some desert)... and with his expertise, he ended up as one of the ones chosen.

Stretching out his hands and cracking his knuckles, Gaspard takes a break from reverently looking over his new surroundings (with an entirely undisguised eagerness), and walks over to the (evidently) leader of their little operation, Joseph, in order to alert him as to what he would be doing, putting on an easy smile as he approached the man, speaking in a Cajun accent -- thankfully for Joseph, it was a bit weaker than it would have been if Gaspard weren't such a traveler before heading here, and it was understandable.
"Bonjour, mon ami. It looks like Lustrum here is exactly the sort of place I had been hoping it would be -- I imagine my particulier talents should come in quite useful here. Unless something unexpected comes up, I should be able to travel these swamps with relative ease. I intend to go scouting around, and see if I find anything of particular use to us or of any interest."

Adam had little interest in going outside. After all he never wanted to travel to this shithole. He missed global network. He missed his friends. Yet, his parents decided for him.

Instead of going outside he decided to focus on his hobby and write one more game. Game were player must survive in swamps.

Joseph looks somewhat shocked.

"Scouting? Already?

Dear god, my comrade, you will die! We do not know this planet. There might be massive swamp-monsters simply waiting in the bushes everywhere! We must cultivate it bit by bit, and slowly initiate a take-over!"

Gaspard let out a chuckle.
"Well, scouting is typically something one does before they have the knowledge they came to scout for, non? It'd be good to know about any horrible swamp monsters before they come and attack our little colony. Besides, I've been traveling the swamps in Louisiana and elsewhere for all of my life, and those that are left are real merde-holes. I know how to take care of myself in a swamp --even one as foreign as this-- and I know my limits... I'm not sure I could say the same for any poor bastard who ends up traveling out there for whatever reason before we've done any looking."

Joseph appears hesitant, then nods. He places a heavy hand on Gaspard's shoulder.

"Alright, comrade. Be cautious.

Oh, before you go, find a technician. See if you can get some fancy technology to help. Some kind of automated holo-mapper or whatnot might make your scouting mission into an intensely useful cartographing trip. If those holo-maps exist at least. I'm a bit old fashioned. Heck, I still use a revolver."

He takes out the revolver and twirls it, before putting it back in his pocket. He removes his hand from Gaspard's shoulder, and gives him a sharp salute.

Gaspard flashed Joseph a wide grin, and brought the case at his side up to view, opening it up to reveal a set of tools, surprisingly low-tech but clearly VERY well-used, with loving handcrafted repairs on a few of the tools.
"I suppose you could call me old-fashioned in a way, too. These babies have served me quite well for a decade now, and I can get a better handle on things with these than with any sort of fancy holo-map or such."

Joseph nods. He appears satisfied.

"A man confident in his own abilities and tools is a boon to anyone. I am proud to have you here with me.

There appears to be a group of hunters setting up a camp over there. Converse with the leader about your intent to scout. He should be more than happy to send an escort with you. Try to acquire at least two expert huntsmen. Not only will you be safer, but they will get to see what quarries they will have to learn to hunt on this planet. It is a winning scenario for all involved.
