Hmmm... this is giving me a good idea.

When we have a stable supply of food, we will begin rationing it out to people, saving enough each year to stockpile in case of a rainy day. Rations will be more than enough a human being needs to eat every day. The ration of workers will be decided by one thing and one thing only; profession. If they do nothing, they will receive a normal ration. If they do a task which is important to the survival of the colony, like farming or construction, they receive an extra half-ration. If they are in an incredibly important position, they get two rations. Furthermore, families with children will receive an extra ration and a half for every child they have.

Rations, of course, referring to our crops. We'll not be having hard-tack and biscuits, as the word ration may make it sound. No, we shall be eating glorious bounties of farmed goods."
