can we just stop blaming people for voting for what they want to happen.

thank you.
The real problem's democracy. Giving every individual the power to voice their own self-interest? Who thought that was a good idea?

By the way, MSH, I'm interested in hearing your views on Wales. There hasn't really been much said any where, but it shocked me that it voted leave. I assume you voted in, however? If you've gone over this already, sorry - just link me to it.

Edit: Whoops, ha. I mistyped and said MSH probably voted out.

I think North Carolina did vote Leave at the end of the 18th century or so, but I'm not quite sure.
Oh, he's American? Huh. I thought he was Welsh. Who the hell is the Welsh guy then? I know there's one somewhere...

Actions have consequences, including voting.  If you vote for something bad you're responsible for what happens, in my book.

I mean you're like 1/10,000,000 responsible, but... its that thought that counts.

... do you mean some other MSH? Metal's in north carolina. Not wales. And ninja'd, but eh.

And yeah. Go figure, people in a more stable household are less likely to be concerned by economic issues. Or at least existentially/primarily so. They know they've got a backup, and they've been away from the ratrace for long enough the situation on the ground isn't as immediate. Is, again, the point.

Also no, it's almost always a lot easier to make more money when you've already got a base. When you're not paying rent, don't have to travel, and all those sorts of things that being well and long established brings, suddenly a small paycheck becomes a lot larger. I've been living watching it for the last few years. I've got family that's making probably around 40-50k USD annually between the pair of them. I've got other family that's making more than that. Guess which of the two is having an easier time accumulating savings and dealing with day to day issues? Hint: The old couple is the one that's been buying houses, plural, over the last five or six years. The young ones are the ones living in some of those houses :V

can we just stop blaming people for voting for what they want to happen.

thank you.
Chances of that happening is inversely proportional to the extent people are getting screwed over by that, methinks. Folks've got a right to vote as they please. They ain't got a right to avoid criticism for it, yeah? It goes both ways, of course. Folks would've been free to kvetch if remain had got the small majority instead, too. There'd just be a lot less panic involved :V

The real problem's democracy. Giving every individual the power to voice their own self-interest? Who thought that was a good idea?
Nah, problem's not democracy. Problem's the ones that don't realize how sexy that 2/3rds or better majority for major issues is. Well, that and whatever the hell's going on with the UK's political parties right now, save maybe the SNP.

Let's just tell the people who will have to live the rest of their lives with this decision that their vote means less than some angsty teenager who's been fed propaganda from day one and who is most likely ill equipped to sort fact from said propaganda. As was previously mentioned, the old are the ones risking the most material possessions in this decision. It's not as if everyone over 30 (the age at which remain and leave became fairly 50/50 in the polls) suddenly decided to screw posterity, their children and their grandchildren. Selfishness, despite the heavy implications of those using age as an argument, was not a prime feature of their decision making process.
The presence of people sometimes defined as "wogs" in the UK, and the movement of more of such people from the EU into Britain, I think may have been a prime feature, at least for a deciding proportion of the vote.

Annoyance at this, though I am admitttedly a hormonal stew dependent on my parents for political opinions, I would tentatively call understandable.
No problem. Not everyone is brave enough to confess being a racist and a xenophobe in public. It's commendable, really.

I just had a mental image of a sheep at a trial, and someone holding a puppet up to him.

"Please show us where the Welshman touched you on the doll...."

Anyways, serious matters will wait til morning

Makes me wonder.
Some companies have stated that they will leave the UK "because brexsit"
However since brits will be free of the EU they can basically start slapping down pro corporate laws they couldn't even dream of when part of the EU as an attempt to bring the runaway companies back.
But that means obviously putting themselves in opposition to the EU and pissing off germany.

I also kinda wonder how british export will hold up once tensions rise. The EU in theory can slap their stuff down with duties.

What magical "pro corporate laws" are we free to implement now, exactly?

Well which of these pro corporate laws has UKIP been talking about repealing now that the referendum passed?  It's their moment in the limelight, what have they been talking up?

Nothing specific in mind actually. it could be as little as preferential tax rates (lower than ones in the EU obviously) for foreign companies.

When you say "slapping down", you mean creating such laws?  The meaning I presumed was erasing such laws.

I mean, I can't even think of a stereotype about north carolina, parts of it get a bit... appalachian-y I guess, but even those parts of the country aren't known for sheepbangery. Maybe if you put a sign on one that said "I'm your cousin" or something?
