You have always been good at talking to people and making friends, traits that should serve you well in this line of work. And, heck, while making some connections with the locals you get a line on a set of good quality machine tools at a discount.
From your connections you learn of a few vacant buildings in various parts of town you can get to work in. Of course, you can also build your own, but that would be farther out of town.
Where do you set up shop?-The warehouse district
Lots of space to work in, although not the best to sell in.
-The edge of mainstreet
Pricey, tiny, but almost as good as being on the main drag.
-The edge of the settlement
Cheap, lots of land to expand on and the like, but you wont start with asmuch.
What sort of tools? From your contacts you can get some extra tools, the question is, what kind?
-Extra tools (starts you off with two extra sets of standard tools)
-Better tools (starts you off with a set of good quality tools)
There are five main sets of qualities for things in the game, they being:
Bad
Low
Standard
High
Superb
Nomatter what you will start with a set of standard quality tools. Tools can be shared by two workers to act as tools of one lower rank. The better tools you have the faster you can work and the better things you can make. For instance, with low quality tools you can make a bolt action rifle. With standard quality tools, you can make a bolt action rifle faster or a semi-auto rifle. With high, you can make bolt action rifles rather quickly, or make a few assault rifles.*
*Rough approximation of process. You can probably make a assault rifle with low quality tools, if you dont mind taking a while to do it or have it be really rather risky to use
Qualities are applied to Generic Tools, Specialized Tools(for mass production), Labor(which has some extra traits), Work Area(combines with specialized tools in interesting ways), and Shop Front. Oh, and some other stuff you may or may not want to think about for a while yet, like test facilities in all their forms, although there it goes by a different set of terms.
