She looked at the box.
"So who else knows you've got it? And might be 'unsavoury' enough to try to take it? Because I wouldn't trust most of this lot without seeing them in a fight first, so if we're expecting to fight someone above the normal bandit trash..."

"Thieves and bandits primarily. Hopefully that will be all you have to deal with."

"Any others who would be after this the most are little more than thugs chasing superstitions. Nothing of true concern." said Lord Murquist, stepping back into the conversation.

"Quite." Aaron gave a small pause. "To tell the truth, Lord Marquist and I are needed elsewhere, otherwise we would be taking care of this matter ourselves."

Murquist unstrung a small leather pouch from his belt and tossed it. It hit the table with a thud and the tinkling of metal as a few gold coins fell from the opening.

"The first portion of your payment for this mission, as agreed. Count them if you wish. We will rendezvous with you at the delivery point, where you'll receive the rest of the reward from the Duke."

Jezzail caught Helen's wrist as she reached for the gold.

She upended the bag and the table, and quickly formed it into even piles. She scooped her own into a pouch and stowed in her robes.

Sprook's eyes shoot open in terror before becoming relieved then a twinge of sadness overtakes them and in a apologetic tone.

Shion glances over at the man called Brecht "Ehh mister Brecht...may I ask what your writing about?"

"Nothing interesting." Brecht said, not looking up from the book. "Some musings on magical theory, notes for future works, ideas for characters... That sorta thing." Despite his insistence that the contents of his book weren't interesting, Brecht kept his attention fixed on writing in it.

"Some of that is true but i prefer friends or companionship or maybe knowledge is power,it's probably one of those but yes hopefully money shall be usefull Jezzali."
