Those images just make me stare blankly as my mind attempts to comprehend the sheer size of all that glass. Ironically, I only went 'wow' after viewing the 2D screenshots; the 3D ones are on a scale completely beyond my mind's grasp.

I appreciate that all the furniture is glass, even all the bins. Tickles my fastidiousness juuuust right.

Actually, I couldn't make bins out of glass because it's not an option on the glass furnace. But I wanted bins that would last because my wooden ones decayed after all the years. I looked up a light metal and discovered that zinc was pretty light and I had Sphalerite and tetrahedrite as my only metal ores on the map. So I made them out of zinc and just got lucky that the colour matched.

How did you manage to make all that glass? I'm trying something inspired by this, but I have only made a few hundred blocks and my fort is already losing fps quickly.

He set the pop cap to 40 and I assume that he has a decent computer

I though he let the dwarves expand to 100 or something though...

Only the first 7000 clear glass blocks were made with a population cap at 40. That kept the FPS above 30 for the first 240 years. After I increased the strict population cap to 145 the FPS dropped to about 10ish for the next 150 years so we’ve been making the rest (about 55000 blocks) at an FPS of 10. As for how, I just set the magma glass furnaces to repeat for block production and sand collection. Then wait hundreds of years as long as you can make enough pearl ash.

Hm, having more population really sped production up then, no matter if it feels slower.

I managed to read "The Elf Queen Lasagna" the first time around. I suppose that fits in with the cooking operation you've set up for them.

Y'know, what with this thing being a gargantuan clear glass tube, and the water piped into it along with the presumably high temperature of hell... You've basically turned this fortress into a colossal bong.  Is this what Fath's plan is? Smoke the dwarves inside so they achieve a "higher" state of being?

Oh, yeah... Can you smooth slade? If you find you need something else to do, you could just permanently carve your history into another plane of existence by engraving the surface of hell. The demons may live here, but it's your house.

Well maybe a bong with magma flowing through it as well  ;D
And yes, I’ve smoothed all of the slade within the the fortress walls. I will engrave it all once all of the structures and rooms are built in hell so I don’t lose any engravings while building.

Outside is starting to come together. Just need to add more Fortifications and ramps to touch up the look.

Ah, I take it you first build each floor, then build the walls surrounding it?

Reminds me of a candelabra. Larger than some forts. Is the river on the bottom side frozen?
