Look around again for a guard tower.Perhaps they keep it close to the herds for easy access to food.

Just clarifying, your vote is to keep going west, looking for guard tower (I do care about votes but yeah)? Or do you veer north or south or etc?

(OOC: The direction you travel matters in both how long it takes you to get there and if you don't know exactly where the place is, how long it takes to find it. Keep in mind that there's also another vote to find ruins, so you're looking for both.

Also, I'm just making sure you guys have options and ample opportunity to use skills / do things. It also rewards for having knowledge.)

I would like to head south first looking for some guard towers and ruins as well as the lumber camp Throlu mentioned. While we walk we should see if we can improve our skill with the ax.

(OOC: I'm not sure how you'd get axe skill walking through the forest).

You travel along west, guiding the Zuffen riding your boar across uneven forested terrain looking for guard towers, or ruins, or that lumber camp, "Southdoor Gate."

You continue on that way for a couple hours, until you come across an old looking set of stones, with an ancient looking tower nearby surrounded by a wall 10 ft high in some places. The place appears to be very very old as some of the stone is overgrown, though you're not entirely sure if that's because the place is ancient, because it hasn't been maintained, or both.

The place is generally laid out in a large circular wall with the old tower on a raised hill, or so it appears. You don't recognize any marks on the stonework or any exposed banners, nor do you currently see anyone. You do not believe you have been seen (if there is anyone there to see you) so far.

You may try to venture into the place or leave it behind, by several possible routes:
A.) Leave and keep right on going.
B.) Attempt to enter through what looks like what was the front gate a long time ago.
C.) Attempt to enter through the broken section of wall.
D.) Climb over the wall somehow.
E.) Continue to scout around the place

Note that you may also try these with or without trying to hide, though your boar may not be the most stealthy thing, generally.

What do you do?

If we go the sneaking route, we'll definitely have to leave our Zuffen friend with the boar.

But overall, I'm curious to see if we can get through a hole in the wall.

Alternatively, Throlu willing, if his people have any skill in climbing things, then it might not be a bad idea to leave the scouting to him. They seem to be pretty good at the whole stealth element.

+1 if Throlu is willing and able. Let's not lose the Zuffen. So yeah, ask.

If that won't work, then through the wall.

The boar isn't quiet so leave him somewhere safe we can get to if we have to run.

Ruin or watchtower or both?
Only knowing they existed for a day, you never got a chance to see if Zuffen can climb. It seems this one can, or at least Throlu is making it around the wall fairly well, so you're uncertain if it's all of them or just this one. Throlu carefully moves about, rather well hidden with lots of vegetation held in fur and making the Zuffen appear far more vegetative. Though the seemingly mobile plants do seem to move quite stealthily to your view, you also know where to look and what to look for, not that you always know exactly where the Zuffen is.

After some period of time spent waiting, the Zuffen, with quite a bit of vegetation stuck in fur, seems to report to you,

"I don't see anyone there right now, but that doesn't mean no one is there. They could be hiding or just inside. The place itself looks incredibly old and this might be one of the ruins I heard of, though that doesn't mean its safe necessarily, or that someone from Plovin's doesn't know about it.

Someone did design this right a long time ago. On the other side of that wall, there are crop gardens, still growing what I think are food, maybe beans, squash, and something else like corn? There's a fountain that still runs, a stone courtyard, broken large statue of a serpent lizard looking thing I've never seen, some kind of storage or stables, and more. There's a paved stone pathway between the outter gate and door into the tower. Plus there are windows overlooking the area inside the walls, so I was very careful to be hidden as best I could, because someone could easily see out through those without us seeing in. "

The zuffen pauses at a random oink from the boar and then continues,

"Whoever built this is obviously long dead, but it used to be something to behold back ages and ages go I bet. At least the fountain seems to still be giving water, if its safe to drink, I'm not sure. I have to wonder about the food too.

There are two ways into the tower, a front way off the main paved stone way and a back way from the stone paved courtyard around the other side."

You ride right through the front gate, which doesn't even seem to be locked, and isn't. The stone paved path is quite beautiful really, even somewhat overgrown a bit by weeds. It leads to both the stables/storage and seemingly around the back, though that's more of a side path.

You appear resolute to enter through the back door of the tower, which actually also opens easily and is not locked. The double doors admit you and it appears your boar as well, easily with no resistance. There is an entrance room centrally featuring another serpent like statute in it coiled around a large stone or something kind of oval or spherical or something unclear. There are also very old and tattered tapestries on the wall, wore and faded but also featuring snakes (or so you think from the worn and torn nature). Stone sconces for torch holding are also on the walls it seems, between the tapestries. Finally, the two carpets, though worn, are a rich green color, matching the tapestry backgrounds.

Three doors (not counting the back entrance you came in) are from left to right clearly "up" "through" and "down." They are not marked as such, but it's fairly obvious from the simple carvings worked into the stone frames, meant to be easily visually understood.

So far not a soul.

Go with the one that says "through."

Secure the ground floor first. This thing has 2 exits. Let's be able to confidently use them both if we have to.
