TACTICAL GLADIATOR

CURRENT GAME CLICK HERE (CAPTURE THE FLAG)

In this game I will be taking suggestions from grid based battle and puzzle characters to meet together here.

Guidelines for Suggestions
1. Simpler characters are going to be easier to add, and may be put in first.
2. While the source games can be real time, most probably the character should at most be only able to move at most in the eight directions, a combination of cardinal(North, South, East, and West) and diagonal. Note that altitude is not likely to be a factor anytime soon, so characters should still feel relevant in an open or corridored setting.
3. I may favor suggestions from those that have already played Tactical Gladiator, and understand the game environment better to make a more informed suggestion. Give the game a shot! There's always an active game for you to join.

Please also link to a wiki article about your unit if one is available. In OP I recommended units that gain XP and level up.

Rook. (Chess is a grid-based combat game, right?)

I love it!

I imagine this being a high risk/reward unit. Invincible! Except when units move onto you, and 1KO units you move onto. In the game of chess, the minimum a piece can move is 1 space(pawn), and max is 8(bishop, queen, and rook). The rook is a high movement character, but with confined cardinal movement.


I will take these elements into consideration. These are just first impressions, balance may change. Feel free to point out your own ideas.

Also, the rook begins in a position, where it must wait for other units to move before it can take action. Cannot move through allies. Loses if the king dies and wins if enemy king dies, so a low movement "captain" may be appointed on each team.

Ill go ahead and recommend you make your top 3 picks from 3 different franchises, so I can pick the ones I am most familiar with.

Edit: You know, I am going to shift focus. I am REALLY liking these suggestions for simple units like chess and checker pieces. I think thats a smart place to start with this ambition. So simple units like that may be great to start.

Anyone want to be Snake? From the game "SNAKE" XD

Not usually thought of as a turn based game, but a timelimit(very short) it is, its still technecilly fits XD

Queen (Chess)

Initial Summary:

Movement: Starts out confined behind other units. Can move in cardinal and diagonal. Its distance is the highest in the game, tied with rook and bishop.

Weakness: It is one of a kind, losing it means the rest of your team has far inferior movement options. Loses if the king is killed.

Attacks: Moves onto a unit to kill, and vs versa.

Durability: Average, nothing is more or less durable.

Special: Wins if enemy king is killed.

Leveling: No change within or between battles.

Feel free to steal other people's ideas aswell. I will assume your highest picks are ones you want most.

I am having a lot of fun with this. To keep players engaged, I will allow you to have a singleplayer(vs me) and multiplayer match going simultaneously.

Whos on now that would like to start?
