A possible solution for Moonlit would be a malus to parrying in exchange for those extra attacks?

Re feedback: I'd envisioned it to make it easier to coordinate groups (any team working together is better than a team who is not), make it easier to convince groups to do things they'd otherwise rather not do (getting a of indifferent people riled up and ready to fight them zombies or a group of random ditch diggers to dig a ditch where we need it), and I'm also hoping I'd get a few mooks from my background to start with although that may be pushing it.

I figure at some point, you're just gonna run outta fucks to give and just off yourself whenever you get hurt at all. It's not like there's any downsides to it. Hangover? Suicide will fix that. Stubbed your toe? Suicide. Headache? Suicide. Papercut? Suicide.

I'm currently trying to think of where I want to go with this. I have a character I like thematically but I'm not 100% on mechanically, and I have a few vague directions I'd like to go in mechanically, but no certainties or themes to go with them.

I guess I should probably go with what I have until I make up my mind to do otherwise, though:

Spoiler: Work In Progress (click to show/hide)

For whip fighting, I'm thinking basically what you were telling someone else they couldn't do without skills: Indiana Jonesing zombies around.

Her second skill is not something I'm happy with. Grappling fits thematically, but a second combat skill is likely of limited utility. Tracking could work, though I'm not sure if that'd be better. Some kind of divination could also work, but if she's just using it to track down runaways tracking would probably be easier and more reliable, so it's a little eccentric.

I considered a diplomatic skill, thematically for convincing targets to just give it up, mechanically for acquiring outside assistance, but I'm not sure how broad or effective that'd be. Or even if diplomacy can be meaningfully improved via skills.

Equipment I'm not too sure of; presumably she would not be hunting very dangerous targets most of the time, so she would likely not be well-armored. That leaves mostly hunting gear, I suppose.

Hence my liking the character thematically but not being too sure about her usefulness mechanically. Nonlethally incapacitating zombies while wearing light armor is... probably not the first role you'd pick for a party.

I think if you maybe used a whip with some sort of blade, or thin serrated edge, it'd be lethal. And I think some skill like intimidation would fit well.

Not sure how feasible that'd be, and if I really wanted to go lethal I'd just figure out a character that uses a sword. Intimidation isn't a bad idea thematically, but I suspect zombies don't scare easily.

Hm. I wonder if it'd be feasible to make a Sword/Mercantile adventurer type, then run around stabbing things and selling bone curios for better supplies. Or a bonecrafter/really morally ambiguous tanner even by low fantasy iron age standards...

I'd envisioned it to make it easier to coordinate groups (any team working together is better than a team who is not), make it easier to convince groups to do things they'd otherwise rather not do (getting a of indifferent people riled up and ready to fight them zombies or a group of random ditch diggers to dig a ditch where we need it), and I'm also hoping I'd get a few mooks from my background to start with although that may be pushing it.

So, bonus to rallying npcs. Ok, that's fine. But yeah, no henchmen to start. Also, I'll assume you want a coif to go with that hauberk/nosehelm combo.

Going to tentatively approve you, but need a few things clarified:

1) Length of spear?

2) Where are you carrying things when you're on the march?

A sword is easy to mount on a belt, so no worries there. But you have two hands and three things: spear, shield and sword. I believe the traditional arrangement for that combination is shield on left arm, spear in left hand under shield, sword in right hand. But you're not going to carry it all like that while marching.  I assume you keep your sword on your right hip for a roman-style right-handed draw. That's fine. Are you marching with your shield on your left arm and spear in your right hand, so that you have to drop something to drop your sword? Do you have your shield mounted on your pack, and march carrying the spear? Is the spear short enough that you have it strung through a loop on your back?

Where are you carrying this stuff when you're not fighting?

Skills: VVV

Would you clarify?

I'm currently trying to think of where I want to go with this. I have a character I like thematically but I'm not 100% on mechanically, and I have a few vague directions I'd like to go in mechanically, but no certainties or themes to go with them.

If you want to do what you're attempting...well, ok. But like you point out, you seem to be going out of your way to choose skills that aren't going to be very effective. True, a few others have chosen skills that have left me wondering what they were thinking, but in your case, both of your skills...what exactly are you going to do? Spoiler: even with a spur on your whip, the undead are not going to be terribly inconvenienced by it. And even if you do manage the take-down mechanic...all you'd really be doing is

For example, imagine you'er corned by two zombies. You go first, roll and success! You grip one zombie by the ankle and spectacularly yank him from his feet! It's now the zombies turn. One of them bites a chunk out of your arm. The other one...stands up. Your turn. You roll again, and spectacular success! Wow, that zombie is so on his back! Meanwhile the other zombie noms on you some more, and the one you knocked down stands up again.

You see the problem? Or am I misunderstanding what you intended?

My skills are "Religion"

What does that do? Give me an example of using the religion skill.

You and Bob both walk into a room, and "do religion." You have religion skill, Bob does not. How does your result vary from his?

I am more likely to Call on my gods power, or at the very least get his attention, while Bob has less of a chance of that working out.
I know more things along the lines of "Religion" and am more able to convince people that I am a Priest and get free lodgings from Peasants, bob may be seen as a heretic or witch.
I Might be able to repel the undead with prayers, bob has less of a chance of that working out.

That's three examples, do I need any more?
