Strike a triumphant pose, claiming victory for the side of the people we've killed the fewest of.

The occupant strikes a pose, and says some stuff.
A few of the characters start killing themselves for some reason, a few start killing others of their own groups.

Its total chaos.

Hmm.  Freedom is weird.  Keep walking, attempting to find a city or town.

The occupant heads off in search of a city or town.

Leaving the battlefield behind there is environmental describing stuff and filler scenic details that set up what the world generally looks like in this region, but nothing over importantly emphasized to make it seem like it can contain anything that traveling to it specifically will contain any special.

The occupant finds a town that is described to make it well pointed out that it belongs to one of the two groups of characters from the battlefield but not any groups' main city.
Most if not all the characters of the town are running around panicked, and making it pretty sure that someone told them to flee for their lives.

Ask them to explain the situation using fantasy tropes and generic details.

The occupant says some stuff.

Many of the characters left in the town stop fleeing and start ransacking the town; setting buildings on fire, killing each other or themselves, and making it very clear talking to characters to get details is not good for them.
