At last, things are becoming clear. For some reason, the people had been mostly hiding their identity, presumably to have freedom to do whatever it takes to kill the mayor, but since the mayor died, there was really no reason to hide anymore. With the new knowledge of people's positions in the town, a decision was made that NotQuiteThere was dangerous. He was brought to the gallows and hanged. Upon investigation, it turns out that his claim of being the Police Chief was true. But political books and campeign flyers were found all over his house, indicating that he was interested in becoming the next mayor.
NotQuiteThere was lynched. He was the Police Chief of Townville.

Hum. I'm not sure, actually. If you went back to your original alignment when NQT died then there shouldn't be a problem with converting you again I think. When I tried to convert you before I couldn't because of a bunch of NQT posters though, so maybe people just can't be converted more than once.
