When you finally stagger out of the pit, you've been thoroughly, thoroughly gnawed upon, and are not at all convinced the disoriented bug-thing you drag through your own ward was worth the trouble.
(("your own" as in being the property of the settlement? Because I made the monsterward, not ATHATH))
((I keep getting you two confused and I'm not sure why. Maybe because his first memorable action was making a ward?))
minor action Fall asleep here and now try to recover from today.
[3, Malus] You start to nod off, but the conversation around you inspires half-asleep dreams of being hollowed out and made into an undead monstrosity. You fall off your chair onto the wooden floor and wake up, decidedly un-recovered.
"Yes! Certainly such a task would be certainly be possible and will within my great abilities and certainly not cause the rise of a horrid monster of living and nonliving flesh that would consume the world in a unending bath of blood and gore!" Sjig 'replied' as Nak curiously poured a cup of tea into his maw, followed by the cup. "Certainly clearing the darkness of monsters or at least beating them back far enough to avoid the instant demise of whatever idiot would go into such a place is a worthy goal that we should pursue forthwith and immediately as we can now tell from previous attempts along this vein" Sjig motions to the mummified Otto "The monsters within are quite seriously a danger!!!! Certainly my skills are fully renown and great and can do anything required and given a year and a properly equip and set up fleshpit certainly this idea of improvement would come to pass but yet we are here with no lab no resources no living samples! Even with this abomination of undeadness you are suggesting I am sure that our work would simply be ripped asunder forthwith and immediately by horrors from the darkness! This is the reason I have been attempting to catalog our other fauna based options in this area with what has certainly been of great success and has not cause any terrible pains and illnesses in the attempt! With only minimal improvements possible in this retched land of rain and damp the idea of going with numbers instead of quality seemed the most obvious in an attempt to conquer the depths!" At this Nak grabs out the snakiped and tosses it before him, with a brisk order from Sjig it uncurls and moves towards Bollwheel "Yes and certainly my great intellect has made this proof of concept possible and I now present it to the Warpaw in the hopes of a merciful argument on it's possible military use and indeed possible use in this endeavor as suggested by Omuz! Conquest via numbers and not strength! A new breed of warbeast for a new and awful and rainy and damp and hateful land!??! In ether rate it seems to this one that we are too under equipped with strength or numbers to conquer the hellish pit of darkness at the current moment and would think that some other project might be of more practical possibility! Such as but not limited to the rain wards that are in dire need of improvement!"
Bollwheel, being Bollwheel, promptly pours it a cup of tea.
"I uh, that is, I write poetry?"
"Can your poetry be weaponized? Is it good or bad enough for that?" the imp asked while leaning uncomfortably close to the bulbous-lizard-thing-woman, before following up with another question with a smile that bared his white, pointy teeth. "And do you know any other channelers that need the guidance of someone as marvelous as I?"
Minor Action: Talk with bulbous lizard thing. Waggle eyebrows furiously.
She coughs nervously.
"I... I hope not..."[6, Poor]
"Afraid not," she harrumphs, seemingly oblivious to your eyebrows.
"They're all going on about how they'll be eaten by bugs and everyone here but them is insane."He hesitates, considering before saying his next piece. In my spare time, I created a prototype waterproof cloak. He holds up the end of his cloak I had planned to get a few helpers from Princess Blacktongue to create a few more. I am .. inexperienced in large scale item creation, and do not know how long it would take to make enough for everybody if we were to focus on cloaks."
"I say," Bollwheel interjects, leaning in and examining your cloak with his monocle.
"This one looks a bit overdesigned; I imagine you'd be able to make a good several if all you wanted was to keep the rain off. More accouterments would drive the workload up, of course."MINOR: Accept the Mason's Offer.
MINER: Ask the miners to Help me with improving the Size and Stability of my Cave, from there we can build more...
The mason promises to get to work on the door right away.
[3, Malus]
"Yeah? Then whatta we need you for?"There's a chorus of agreement from the other miners.
Absorb the tea to acquire the Civilization affinity.
"This is a nice gesture, Bollwheel, but my unique physiology means that I tragically cannot drink tea."
Give some tea to my insectile friend.
"I could help with the building. I think there are enough trees around for me to acquire the Wood affinity."
"Er, doctor, do you have enough available time to fix me up and examine the capabilities of my new pet here?"
"Sjig-Nak, does your new technique work on all monsters? I'd be happy to lend you Bugsy for further testing, as long as you put him under my complete control afterwards and don't hurt him too much."
Major Action: Absorb some trees (or some stone, if we're building with that), making Wood (or Stone) and Mind-Control my secondary affinities, and as my primary affinity.
Major Action: Use my new affinities to help with the settlement's (does it have a name yet?) building and mining.
Minor Action: Supervise Sjig-Nak (did you skip my Minor Actions last turn?).
Minor Action: Continue to read.
[10, Poor] You pour tea into your bug's mouth. It doesn't seem to have an opinion on this.
((It would seem I did skip your minor action(s). The reading thing along with your majors I must have forgotten about because I was focused on the majors; if you had other minors I skipped, I must have missed those in gathering everything up.))
You take some time out of the boring parts of the meeting to skim through one of your books.
[20, CRIT!]
"...crab carcass into a fearsome monster...livewood housing...more waterproof...""...horrid monster of living and nonliving flesh...!...consume the world...!...instant demise...!...fleshpit...!...improvement...!...living samples...!...""...grow enough housing...prototype waterproof cloak...large scale item creation..."
EUREKA! You could use alchemical principles to infuse something- say, a corpse or seed- with desirable qualities, then GROW IT INTO A LIVING CITY! Naturally, it'd have to be
programmed to grow that way naturally, and some of the finer points of "alchemical principles"- such as making sure infused Water Aspect actually makes it waterproof or waterhappy- would take some delicate refinement without a specialist handy.
But with an entire room full of mooks to use, you could totally make the beginnings of a dry, self-contained, self-maintaining settlement, all conveniently located under one unified leafy canopy or shambling fungal crab husk!!!
Minor action: Grab some dead animals from wherever the hunters put their kills. Preferably interesting-looking ones, but it really doesn't matter.
Minor action: Ask the hunters to bring any particularly interesting finds to me, either dead or alive.
[11, Good] You find some supply barrels containing the hunters' kills. Sadly there's nothing in there except a few stray rabbit-sized bugs; apparently they haven't had much luck other than the giant crab-thing.
[20, CRIT!]
"You want interesting finds?" snarls the biggest orc you've ever seen.
"Take a look at this."The orc pulls aside a slab of crabflesh to reveal... what appears to be a tiny fungus humanoid in a tiny compartment in the crab.
Minor Action: Ask the blacksmiths to make a warhammer for Pearl for improved crushing. Have her crush them if they refuse.
Minor Action: Request some of the channelers to help me with my rainward attempt.
Minor Action: Ask Pearl to spend some time crushing monsters in the pit to get some fighting experience under her belt.
Minor Action: Struggle to sleep at night, worrying that Pearl might get damaged. Feverishly begin drawing up plans for golem armour.
Bollwheel gives you a jolly
"Good day!" on your way out.
[8, Poor]
"Why, what's in it for uuuuuuuuuuuI'll get right on that!" You're not sure if they're scrambling to make Pearl a warhammer or tell Gruelfist about your giant golem, but they seem very motivated either way.
[18, Bonus]
"Anything to get out of this rain! What are those other guys doing?!" The channelers appear to be on board.
Pearl flexes her fists.
"Yes Papa."[4, Malus] You scribble up some basic plans for armor to help reinforce her. Unfortunately it'd make her look like a slut.
Minor action: Show my prototype Cloak of Dryness to Blacktongue. I need some workers in order to get more of these made in a timely fashion, starting with one designed for her. (Also, I'd be able to get more done if one of her people would take over the infirmary zone).
[1, FAIL!]
"UN-LIMITED POWWEERRR!"By the time you're able to move again, you're very wet and muddy from where Blacktongue dumped you, and she has your cloak.
