WAR REPORT
ITALY SURROUNDED! Flanked on all sides by hostile Austrian forces, and with no hope of foreign intervention, Italy teeters on the brink of collapse. Regardless, the Italian military assures us that they will fight to the last man.
ENGLAND AND GERMANY TRADE LOSSES! Across Scandinavia and the French border, German and English forces pass like two ships in the night, seizing territory while giving up ground.
PAPER PRINTS SAME PAPER TWICE IN A ROW! Out of original content, the WAR REPORT prints the same articles twice in a row, hoping desperately that no one will notice.

Construction Phase: 24 hours remain.
Austria may construct two units and Germany one. Italy and England must remove one each.

I'm no expert, but it looks like Red has a pretty solid handle on this map.  Way to go, Red!

Just five more SCs will give Austria the win, indeed.  More to the point, they already have the five SCs they need in the next two years: they'll just roll up Italy and Turkey.  Pretty much the only way to turn it around is for all four powers to set aside their differences and present a united front.

This. All of this. I've been trying not to comment, because I have non-public knowledge, but yes. Denying Austria the win comes down to a united front between Germany and England, the key maneuver being an English naval rush to the Mediterranean to defend whatever is left of Turkey/Italy. Further more, England and Germany will need to hold or gain territory to hold off an Austrian win. If they can hold Saint Petersburg, or retake Munich, the war will last for a few more years.

My guess is that Austria's gonna win. I really doubt that either England or I can trust the other enough, and I'm already in a pretty precarious position to get ripped to pieces.

I had the top spot for a little bit, I suppose...

I strongly recommend the other nations surrender to Austria in hopes of preferential treatment in the new world order.  I, for one, welcome our new Austrian Overlords.

WAR REPORT
THE NOOSE TIGHTENS AROUND ITALY! Austrian fleets strengthen their blockade of the last remnants of the Italian Empire in preparation for the coming invasion. The few remaining loyal troops desperately dig in, but, outnumbered and surrounded, on all sides, they know it is only a matter of time before Rome falls. Refugees flee to the north in the hope that they can find some small sanctuary in English France.
GERMAN TROOPS IN ENGLISH FRANCE! For the last two years, fighting between German and English forces had been contained to the German/French border. Now, for the first time, a large contingent of German troops has broken through, and the relative safety calm that the people of western continental Europe have enjoyed is threatened. The future of the recent surge of Italian refugee is in jeopardy.
AUSTRIA DRIVES BACK GERMANY Austria scored an important March victory in Russia; they seized the city of Saint Petersburg after German forces attempted a daring, but ultimately failed counterattack. In Bohemia, fresh Viennan recruits arrived to secure Austria's hold on Munich, guaranteeing that, at least for now, Munich cannot be retaken.

Sorry about the delay, I've been having some trouble with this turn.

I'm not even playing, and it's just delightful watching this all fall apart. Looks like Germany is getting ready to crumble - am I reading that right?

That's pretty accurate. Being besieged on all sides doesn't help Rolepgeek, and since he can't trust England to not backstab him, there's no hope of taking Munich before Austria shovels enough troops in to hold it permanently.

Yikes. And to think someone suggested an alliance earlier on that fell on deaf ears. Hindsight.
