But if I really need an explanation, when caste 1 gives hair (its magic!) to caste 3, the caste 3 individual takes the DNA of each caste 1 member and combines it with all other samples. By randomly combining genetic mateiral, the caste 3 individual is able to produce a unique individual. I could also make it so that there is an increased mutation rate within the caste 3's womb, resulting in more variation, with all fetuses possessing detrimental traits being reabsorbed by the caste 3 individual. In any one birthing period, 90% of all offspring will be caste 1 and 10% caste 2. Caste 3 individuals are created via the fusion of multiple caste 2 members.
