Great games for tablet..?
« on: December 20, 2015, 05:15:40 pm »

I just got a nice tablet for xmas and I'm looking forward to having games like Frozen Synapse, Brogue and DCSS on the go but really outside of Hoplite I don't play many games on my phone(not really a fan of Pixel Dungeon..) and I've never had a tablet before. I'd love games like ToME and FTL or Darkest Dungeon or DoomRL but sadly I know there aren't android versions of these games, even though I think they would be perfect for a tablet.

Any suggestions? Even something like Civ or a good city building game if there are any(without stupid IAP etc..) Thanks!  :D

EDIT: Another game that would be just perfect for a tablet but afaik isn't on android is SanctuaryRPG y u no android games? :(

ZOMBIE GUNSHIP

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.limbic.ac130&hl=en

I also really enjoyed Osmos:  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hemispheregames.osmos&hl=en

Both of those are fairly idle games.  If you want a little more involvement, there is the classic (but 'recently' revamped) King of Dragon Pass:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herocraft.kodp&hl=en

You can also get android emulators for just about any of the old console systems, from SNES to Geneis to whatever.  There is even SCUMMVM so you can play those point-and-click adventure games like Maniac Mansion, Loom, and Full Throttle.

Heck, there is even a DosBox port for android.

you seem to be implying not to have an iOS.

if you do have one, there's this cooking mama game that's almost as accurate as the original, and three dee too.

there's cytus for rhythm game fans, don't starve, bastion, transistor, downwell and ftl.

Well duh. He said it was a nice tablet.

Ot would be helpful to know the operating system though.

If it's a windows tablet than just about any game that can be played with only a mouse and isn't huge can be played reasonably easily using a touchpad emulator

Naughts and Crosses is your best bet if you're running wax. It can still be played on stone/clay but you'll run out of free space too quickly.

If android, Cytus is available on both. By far the best pick of the rest if you ask me.

Windows tablets can do a lot of things. As in, actual Windows tablets, not Windows RT tablets. I do most - well, pretty much all, really - of my gaming nowadays on my convertible Samsung laplet running Win8.

As for Android, I honestly don't know many games because I am limited by the hardware of my cheap phone. But Plague Inc. is something I can definitely recommend as a timewaster, and the Android port of the original Carmageddon isn't bad either.

edit: There's also OpenXCom : http://openxcom.org/forum/index.php/topic,2428.0.html

I came here to recommend it, but... damn ninjas! :P

If you ever played Pandemic 2, the flash game, you'll be right at home. Don't fall for micros, though, most of everything can be unlocked for free.

Star Traders and most of the other Trese Brothers games are worth a look.

Yes they are!  They do a really good job of remaking some of the classics, their 'Pirates!' clone is probably better than 'Pirates!'

There was supposed to be a new Star Traders RPG that they kickstarted, but I have not seen any news in a while.
