We should revise our grapeshot so that it can be used in muskets.

Isn't the reason grapeshot is fired from ship cannons because they're big enough to make up for the loss in velocity? From a musket it'd have even less range and impact when it hit. A mortar would be even worse because you lose the explosives, and grapeshot falling at terminal velocity probably wouldn't even go through a person's skull.
Can't we get someone else to piss on people's parades? I feel kind of bad having to do it all the time.

For this revision phase we are making a modification of the musket described in the following:
Spoiler: 'Samara' rifled musket (click to show/hide)
We've discussed this at length before, could we please try to remember what happened not 2 pages ago?

Sorry. Yeah I want the rifle revision. I think we should come up with a design for some kind of shotgun

Shotguns started to be widely used in the trenches of WWI. I don't think they'll be practical at the moment.

Voting for Graknorke's rifled musket, if I haven't already.

We ready for production stage now.

Heh, just finished writing up the post.

Quote from: Results
'Samara' rifled musket - A variation of the Brown Bess designed with 4 rifling grooves cut down the barrel, used with lead bullets that expand into the grooves upon detonation of the gunpowder. The barrel is shortened to facilitate easier loading, resulting in a lower muzzle velocity.  However, due to the rifling grooves, the effective range is still improved, but not as much as it could have been.  The grooves do cause some problems for reloading on occasion, but very rarely does it prove to be impossible to fix.  The Samara's most effective range is 100-150 meters. Should we make it easier to produce rifles?

Long live the king! Surely the tide of battle will sway in our favour with the extra reach afforded to our skilled marksmen.

EDIT: For production improvements, how about artillery? It could help to push the range advantage we have with rifling.
EDIT2: Forget that, reading up on the cost descriptions we're not going to need artillery to be that common. Fishing Gun boats would be the better bet, to make sure we don't get caught unawares from the water.
