"They made it up, though. All of it. That's what's fucking horrific about those sorts of things; but you need to remember that you, as you are now, are real. This isn't a false life or anything like that -- you're real now, this is real, that wasn't."

[SOLDIER First]

Victoria aims for the gunners, pew pew pew! One of the mounted laser guns hits her in the Jetpack, causing it to malfunction and she falls dozen of feet onto the road. Oof.
"How can I swallow that? I've had dreams, I dreamed inside of there, woke up, and just realized I was dreaming., I've gone to the second layer. It can't be just a dream. D-don't call it a dream, alright?! I don't know what to call it but it ain't dreaming! I had to bury my parents, together!"

"No, there were good times, there were bad times too...but I spent 52 years in there!"

[Powder Miner]

"When I took the helmet off of you, where were you? And, no, it was something different from a dream, but it wasn't real."

Oof indeed. Play dead while assessing injuries, then survey the situation.

Penelope clutches his shoulders, staring him dead in the eye.
"Call it whatever you wish, but it wasn't real. It was a good facsimile of reality, but it wasn't real. This, here, now, is real. Remember why you're here; to defeat whatever these Trespassers are.

Furthermore, think about it. If that was real, if that was it......how come you aren't fifty two years older than you are, right now? How come you aren't where you were before the simulation ended?"

"I-I was in the clinic waiting room, waiting for Charlie to finish his first session. Then Michael calls up and says he wants to change from Engineering to Philosophy. But he can't just change it like that, you know? It's just his first semester..."
