The table is filled with flyers and military memorabilia. One of the soldiers sitting there looks up at Penelope, "Are you interested in joining the armed forces?"
"Come! We have much work to do." Wilson and his crew are no longer held at gunpoint but are still jostled forward by these renegade soldiers.
Weeks of grueling training and work follow this on a mountain site past the jungle. Wilson is made to carry boxes of food and ammunition. He is given fewer resources than the veteran soldiers. During a soccer game, Wilson accidentally trips a boy a couple years older than he is. The boy angrily gets to his feet and begins strutting towards Wilson. The entire camp, including their leader, all watch for Wilson's reaction.

She carefully looks at the flyers, seeing if soldiers are right necessary now; say, if the homeland truly is under threat.

Yes, she believed, that protecting the homeland was good, but only when necessary. Is this when it is necessary?

[SOLDIER First]

"Are you all right? I'm sorry, it was an accident.."

According to these papers, insurgents in a far off land were engaged in a civil war with Sombosa, one of the nation's leading allies on the African continent. It sounds as if the Sombosan army is not well equipped nor trained well enough to stop the insurgents, which is crucial because Sombosa has a small yet still capable arsenal of nuclear weaponry.
The older  boy punches Wilson to the mouth and knocks him to the ground. The surrounding crowd cheers as the bigger boy begins a relentless smackdown on Wilson.

Penelope takes a deep breath.

Or maybe her ideals were far more than just the homeland. Maybe she wanted to protect those who truly needed to be protected.

She sees if she can find out about the reason the war started.

[TCM]

"Ethnic cleansing, as usual. Sombosan election brought in a president and a majority congress of one tribe, another tribe wasn't happy because of it."

[SOLDIER First]

He curls up into a ball and waits it out.

Penelope reluctantly nods.
"Yes. I'd like to sign up."

Sandra nods.
"Umm... how will I know what phone to p-pick?"

"I speak technical, I'll help."
To the phone vendor person!

Victoria assesses the current situation.

Sachi looks awkward.
Phone vendor person exists. They are around. Yes.

"Hi, I'd like to get a phone for her, [lots of technobabble about specs and stuff]."

He slaps a phone on the counter.
"That'll be 200 credits."
