Garnt allows himself to be led through the process. This man had more experience in the ways of 'debit cards' and whatever secrets may lie within them, after all.

He presumably buys the sewing kit afterwards, and leaves, giving the merchant a curt nod.
"Your help was appreciated. Should I have need of other supplies for sewing and the like, I know where I will look."

It would not hurt to compliment the merchant, after all.
