"It's up there," he says, pointing to a moderately sized hole in an elevated position on the wall. "But it doesn't lead anywhere. I only made so that I could ambush that dragon thing."

The fan has ground to a halt and is slowly grinding upwards, the inside glowing the same blue the rods once did.

"I don't think that putting someone really close to those is a good idea.  And weakening the metal is probably a good idea anyway.  Or we could abscond to that tunnel-in-the-making."

Alan crafts a ball of infrared radiation near the base of a fan blade, hoping to melt it.  It could also bend down, but melting it would be better.
