how does turning into a monster girl affect your identity? if it's like feral werewolves (instinct overtakes brains), how could the natural monster girls possibly be intelligent? if not, then it does actually make sense and this question is pointless

Monstergrills were made when an evil god corrupted creation and all of the humans living in it. During the day you have cute monstergirls running about. During the night their evil side takes over and they become terrible monsters. Day and night last for thousands of years in this world, so unless you're one of the longer-lasting monsters you won't live long enough for a single 'day' to occur.

So the players only start turning into monstergrills when it's night time and the corruption of the evil god starts affecting them. They start off 'pure' enough that they only turn into monsterpeople, but it's obvious that once the corruption is rooted deep enough they'll turn into a mindless monster like everyone else in that world. So it's pretty much like feral werewolves. During the day the monstergrills are intelligent and cute. During the night they're terrible and monsterous. It's just that night and day last for so damn long in their world that they have to rebuild their civilization everytime it occurs.

Some kind of memory-wiping thing while being a monster might be included if I feel like it. Either way, it's pretty obvious that the players don't want to turn into a full monsterperson if they want to get back home.

My answer has been spoiled because it's plot junk. _{Which I am revealing now because I too salty to make the game now.}

EDIT: Of course this means that being a cute monstergrill is actually a good thing, since you'll be nice and powerful. It's just that you don't want to be a full monster...

If we have int rolls, that is. Siphoning off the evil ragebeast and using it as an AoE weapon will likely do shit. Or probably damage the player at the same time for massive amounts of damage. Either or.
